We are delighted to invite academics, researchers, graduate students, administrators of educational institutions and representatives of public authorities and local governments to participate in the Vth International scientific and practical conference "Language. Law. Society" which will take place on May 22-25, 2018. The conference will take place at: Penza State University 40 Krasnaya Street, Penza 440026, Russia May 22: arrival and registration of participants, cultural program. May 23: plenary session, panel sessions, cultural program. May 24: round table session, the closing of the conference, cultural program. May 25: guest lectures by leading Russian and foreign scholars. Conference organizers: Penza State University (Penza, Russia); University of National and World Economy (Sofia, Bulgaria); Ural State Pedagogical University (Ekaterinburg, Russia); Legislative Assembly of the region of Penza; Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia for the region of Penza.

Topics include, but are not limited to: 1. The language of law as a language for specific purposes. Linguistic aspects of legal techniques and interpretation of legal acts. 2. The legal term. The problem of legal definitions. 3. Linguistic expertise of texts of various functional types. 4. Advertising text as an object of linguistic research and legal regulation. Problems of state control in advertising. 5. Language and law in the context of language policy. Official language and its legal and linguistic aspects. 6. Speech manipulation in the media: linguistic and legal aspects. 7. Problems of intercultural communication and translation of legal texts. 8. Language and legal communication. Legal discourse as a cultural phenomenon. 9. The role of literature in the formation of the legal culture of society. 10. Formation of linguistic competence of future legal experts. The round table "Legal term outside legal discourse: status, problems of functioning" involves the discussion of the following issues: 1. Status and functions of the legal term outside legal discourse. 2. The functioning of the legal term in discourses adjacent to the legal one (political, etc.). 3. Legal term in metaphorical comprehension. 4. Legal term in the global interdiscourse. 5. Legal term in polycode text. Conference languages: Russian, English. The conference organizers can provide the scheduled videoconferencing function for the participants who are miles away from the venue. The outcomes of the conference will include the conference proceedings assigned with the International Standard Book Number (ISBN), the universal decimal classification identifier (UDC), the Library Bibliographic Classification identifier (BBK), registration in the Russian Electronic Library (Russian Science Citation Index elibrary.ru). The conference materials will be sent to the Russian Book Chamber, the Russian State Library, the Russian National Library, the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Participation in the conference and publication of articles are free.

Requirements for article publication in the conference proceedings acceptable for publication are 6-12 page typewritten A4 articles (210 mm x 297 mm); the workplace and the name of the city are listed after the surname and the initials of the author; the title of the article is given in Russian and English, centered; the article must be accompanied by a brief abstract (300-400 characters) and keywords (4-8 words) in Russian and English; the text of the article should be typed in Times New Roman size 14 pt through the half interval, fields 2 cm; form MS in Word 2003 or newer versions of Word; figures and tables should be placed in the text and presented as separate files (bitmaps in TIFF, BMP with a resolution of 600 DPI, vector drawings in format Corel Draw, with a minimum line width of 0.75 pt). Figures should be accompanied by caption labels. The formulas in the text are executed in the formula editor Microsoft Word Equation, version 3.0 and below; source references (the name, year, volume, pages) are indicated in square brackets, for example: [1963 Baudouin, 1: 349] or [Apresyan 2009: 37]. References to electronic sources or materials without the author's name indicate the first 1-2 words of the title of the publication and the year of publication, for example: [Again about corruption 2015]. References to legal acts indicate the type of document, number and date of adoption, for example: [Federal Law No. 44-FZ of 05.04.2013]. Bibliography sources are listed in alphabetical order: for books the surname and initials of the author, the title, city, publisher, volume, year and the number of pages; for journal articles, proceedings the surname and initials of the author, the title, the journal full name, year, volume number, issue, pages; for conference proceedings the surname and initials of the author, the title, the date and place of the conference, city, publisher, year, pages; for legal acts the name of the document, the number, the date of adoption, the source (electronic resource, the Collection of Legislation of the Russian Federation, etc.) At the end of the article one can specify the name of the project or foundation under which the work is done. After the text of the article one must specify information about the author (s) in Russian and English: surname, first name, academic degree, title, position, place of work (the full name of the organization), city, country. The editors reserve their right to make text editing which does not alter the content of the article without the consent of the author. The editors reserve their right not to publish articles which do not correspond to the theme of the conference or contain plagiarism, or violate the conference requirements.
