Please apply for your visa as soon as you receive the acceptance package. III. QUALIFICATIONS KU Exchange/Visiting Student Program participants must meet all of the following qualifications: A. Exchange: Full-time undergraduate student officially nominated by a KU partner institution Visiting: Full-time undergraduate student attending a foreign university B. Successful completion of at least one semester at the partner institution or foreign university C. English or Korean language proficiency for successful completion of the program D. Passport holder who can obtain a Korean visa E. Physically healthy with no serious illnesses or injuries IV. APPLICATION PROCESS FOR EXCHANGE/VISITING STUDENTS *Steps 1-9 apply to exchange students, and Steps 6-9 apply to visiting students. STEP 1 KU and partner institutions set a quota for exchange students each year/semester. STEP 2 Students discuss participation in the exchange student program with their exchange student coordinators or study abroad advisors at home universities. STEP 3 Exchange student coordinators or study abroad advisors at home universities send nomination letters to KU. STEP 4 KU accepts nominated students. STEP 5 Nominated students submit all required documents to their student exchange coordinators or study abroad advisors at home universities. STEP 6 Student exchange coordinators or study abroad advisors forward the required documents to KU. Visiting students send their documents directly to KU. STEP 7 KU screens applications and notifies accepted students for the exchange/visiting student program. STEP 8 KU sends out acceptance packages. Visiting students also receive tuition invoices prior to their arrival at KU. STEP 9 Students apply for visas and arrive at Konkuk University in Seoul, Korea.

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS A. Program Application Form: Type and complete all required sections. Handwritten forms are not accepted. Fill in Section 5. Preliminary Course List for Fall 2016 by referring to the Spring 2016 List of Courses Conducted in English (http://www.konkuk.ac.kr/eng/jsp/international/inter_1_2_2.jsp). Print out your completed application form, attach your photo, and sign it. Then send the form in PDF format by email. B. Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months. If not, KU cannot authorize your participation in the Exchange/Visiting Student Program and you must renew your passport. C. Photo: Your photo must be 1. In color against a white background 2. Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera 3. 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm in size 4. Taken in the past 6 months All students will be required to take passport photos for their Alien Registration Cards after they arrive at KU. Details will be provided at the New Student Orientation. D. Dormitory Application Form: Type and complete all required sections. Handwritten forms are not accepted. Carefully read Section 5. Terms of the Contract and Payment. Upon agreement, print out the form and sign it. Then send the form in PDF format by email. All dormitory residents may be required to complete a medical check-up soon after they check-in. Further details will be provided at the orientation. VII. WHEN YOUR DOCUMENTS ARE READY Applicants without dormitory application Applicants with dormitory application NEXT STEP Submit required documents No.1-4. Submit required documents No.1-5. DEADLINE May 15, 2016 *Exchange Student Program applicants should submit all documents to their exchange student coordinators or study abroad advisors at once. *Students are strongly recommended to submit the documents as early as possible.
VIII. ACCEPTED STUDENTS All accepted students for KU Exchange / Visiting Student Program: A. Will receive an acceptance package. The package contains information necessary for you to arrive at KU. Exchange students will receive the package from their home university s exchange student coordinators or study abroad advisors. For visiting students, the package will be sent directly to their home address. B. Have to apply for the Study Abroad Visa (D-2) at the nearest Korean embassy or consulate general in your home country. You cannot apply for a visa in Korea. Exchange Student Program participants must apply for the Student Exchange Program Visa (D-2-6). Visiting Student Program participants must apply for the Short-term Study Abroad Program Visa (D-2-8). [IMPORTANT] The D-2 Study Abroad visa is for students seeking higher education in Korea. The visa is further categorized by type: D-2-2 for undergraduate programs, D-2-3 for master s programs, D-2-4 for doctoral programs, D-2-6 for exchange student programs, and D-2-8 for short-term programs. It is extremely important to prepare relevant documents for the specific type of visa you are applying for. The application process and issuance may take several weeks. Students are strongly advised to proceed with their application as early as possible. KU does not guarantee visa issuance for program participants. Korean embassies or consulate generals overseas have the final authority to issue a visa. Please contact the nearest Korean embassy or consulate general in advance to avoid any confusion before applying for your visa. C. Have to arrange flights to Seoul, Korea. [NOTES] Students should book their flights after receiving the acceptance package from KU. They should pay for the flights upon receiving the visa. All dormitory applicants must arrange their arrival on August 22-23. They should arrive during daytime. All students are strongly recommended to arrive before the New Student Orientation on August 24. D. Have to submit the Arrival Information Form before departing their home country. [NOTES] All students will receive the Arrival Information Form by email and must submit the form with their confirmed flight schedule by July 30, 2016. The form is very importation as it will be used for the New Student Orientation, dormitory check-in, and other programs offering assistance on the first day of arrival. KU does not offer airport pick-up. Students must arrange their transportation from the airport to Konkuk by themselves. KU will send out transportation-related information in July. E. Have to purchase overseas health insurance that covers the duration of the exchange student program. [NOTES] Students must purchase overseas health insurance in their home country prior to departure.
