MARINE LEARNING SYSTEMS MARINELMS FEATURES LIST

Introduction We know that every customer has different needs and those needs change over time. To address that, MarineLMS has been designed from the ground-up to be future-proof: our system is adaptable and can easily accommodate future requirements. Our software consists of a core infrastructure component that supports a set of modules. New modules can be created and existing ones adapted as needs emerge and change. With this, we have access to refine and customize MarineLMS to suit the exact needs of each of our customers. The first section gives a high level overview of the various features within MarineLMS. The subsequent section presents multiple screenshots to give a more concrete view of MarineLMS capabilities. Marine Learning Systems MarineLMS Features List Page 1

Current Features General System Features Company specific branding Multiple organizational levels (different locations, divisions, etc.) with customized branding User-friendly and completely customizable site navigation Hierarchically configured units and permissions Flexible rule-based notification system: o configure notifications to trainees, trainers and administrators based on a wide variety of system events Designed with an extensive set of APIs to integrate with existing enterprise management systems Uses simple Web 2.0 technology that is intuitive for users, reducing administrative workload costs User Management User roles are configurable to the needs of the organization. This can include: student, trainer, examiner, administrator, etc. Administrative rights can be flexibly assigned, including sub-organizations, to support the desired degree of autonomy Users can administer and track analytics from a central location depending on their permissions LMS Availability Web-based LMS: access via Internet Access to LMS with little or no internet connectivity on board a vessel using a Remote Training Server (RTS) o RTS is a vessel-based instance of MarineLMS that is synchronized to the central system: the RTS duplicates the full training and assessment features of the land-based LMS to any vessel Fully mobile-ready with responsive design: can be accessed on a tablet or smartphone for offline use Course Content Content neutral: content can be created by the customer or taken from content providers Learning materials are shared across different units in resource libraries Supported formats: text, video, audio, animation (Flash, HTML5, etc.) Supports SCORM 1.2 compliant content. SCORM compliant assessments will soon be reported within the LMS Course content can be created using PowerPoint and easily converted to a functional course by MarineLS staff Users can resume a course from the last accessed page Marine Learning Systems MarineLMS Features List Page 2

Assessments Proctored and unproctored examinations Delivers trainee self-tests Tests can be timed (e.g. limited to an hour) or untimed (users can take however long they need to complete) Supports web-based examinations: automatically graded Question types available: Multiple choice Questions can be created, edited, categorized and deleted within the LMS Bulk upload of questions using an XML formatted document possible Question database can contain any number of questions Questions tagged with metadata according to the topic they are designed to test Standardized and randomized assessments to examine a consistent mix of competencies at the same level of difficulty Instructors can manage test results: override grades, allow retakes, etc. Automatic generation of certificates from templates Student evaluations available (where instructors evaluate students and assign them a grade) Exams can be reviewed on a question-byquestion basis showing questions, student responses, time taken to answer, and more (expanded upon in the analytics section) Students can review their assessments: an overview of all assessments taken can be given or individual assessments can be looked at question-by-question Analytics/Report and Audit Logging A wide range of reports are available, including: o Company-wide performance for specific exams o User exam performance reports that show which questions were answered correctly/incorrectly, and time spent on each question o Question reports for assessments and self-tests to indicate what knowledge is being acquired quickly and what knowledge trainees are having difficulty with o What content has been seen by learners and how long they have spent on each page of content Certain reports can be exported to CSV file format Audit facility that records a wide variety of actions Course Features and Administration Manually or automatically register trainees into courses via integration to other enterprise systems Bulk-upload of registrations available A feedback icon on every page for users to report errors, omissions or required content updates The LMS automatically reports to designated administrative staff the location of the problem, contact details of the user who reported and a problem description Marine Learning Systems MarineLMS Features List Page 3

Screenshots General System Features Implementations of MarineLMS have company-specific branding and customized navigational structure. Navigational links and pages can be easily edited by administrators. MarineLS will work with the customer to customize the look and feel and branding of MarineLMS to help with user adoption. LMS Availability MarineLMS is accessed via the Internet. We also offer Remote Training Servers (RTS) that work on board a vessel, giving users access to training and assessments regardless of the state of internet connectivity. The screenshot below presents the RTS management and synchronized status page. MarineLMS is fully mobile-ready. Course Content Content can be managed within MarineLMS or through your operating system using WebDav. The first screenshot presents the MarineLMS file repository in browser. The second screenshot presents the same file repository accessed through WebDav. Assessments Assessments/evaluations can be created and managed by administrators. The following screenshots show what administrators can see when they create new assessments/evaluations and when they access the Advanced Options (to edit settings such as creating a proctored exam or allowing for automatic retakes). Assessments can be proctored or unproctored. Trainee self-test reviews are also available. Assessments can be timed. Marine Learning Systems MarineLMS Features List Page 9

Assessment questions can be created and managed within MarineLMS. Bulk upload of questions is also possible through an XML file. The following screenshot Assessment questions are taken from a repository of questions and randomized/standardized to ensure that users receive a different mix of questions, but are tested at a similar level of difficulty. Certificates can be automatically generated upon completion of assessments. The following screenshots show the Certificate management interface for a user along with an example of a generated certificate. Certificate formats and looks can be customized. Instructors can evaluate students through MarineLMS Student Evaluation feature. The following screenshots show the Student Evaluation interface available to instructors. Analytics/Report and Audit Logging MarineLMS offers a wide range of reports based on assessments, student grades and more.
