Introduction Our part-time leisure courses take place from various centres around the Bracknell and Wokingham areas. They are held in the daytime, evenings, on single days and on Saturdays. Some last a few weeks and some keep you busy all year. There is a course for everyone in Wokingham, Bracknell and communities further afield. If you re looking for fun activities to do with friends, to pick up an old pastime, to meet new people, to learn a new skill, to keep active in body and mind, or even to increase your confidence or improve your job prospects, then we are sure you ll find something to capture your imagination at Bracknell & Wokingham College. 3

Choosing a course 6 If you want to take a course but are not sure which one to choose, call us. We have qualified, experienced staff who can help you decide.

Who can apply? Anyone can apply for a community learning course. You will need to meet the entry criteria for some subjects you choose. If you are over 19, fees will be payable except in some circumstances, see the Money matters section for more details. 7

8 Enrolling on a course There are four easy ways to enrol: Online You can enrol on many courses online this is available for most of our community courses. Please do not enrol online if you are claiming a discount or applying for an Advanced Learner Loan. Phone 01344 868600, just give our friendly, helpful Enquiries & Admissions team a call, make sure you have your credit or debit card ready. In person Come in and enrol, you can pay by cash, cheque, credit or debit card at Church Road and Woodley Hill House. By post Just complete a Registration & Enrolment form. You can download the form from our website from the contact us area. You can pay by cheque.

Please do not send cash in the post. Remember to: Complete all sections of the form Write in BLOCK CAPITALS Include your payment Sign the form we can t enrol you if you don t Return your completed form to: Enquiries & Admissions, Bracknell & Wokingham College, Church Road, Bracknell RG12 1DJ Please note we do not accept American Express. If you are claiming a discounted fee remember to include the documentary evidence of your entitlement with your enrolment form and payment. We will return your documents once you are enrolled. 9

Money matters You must pay when you enrol on your course, whether you get discounts or not. Fees shown are for tuition only, unless otherwise stated. You may need to pay other costs depending on your course, for example: Exams Professional body registration/ membership Books Materials For Jobseekers: You can get full funding for some courses if you are unemployed or need training to improve your chances of 10 getting a job or progressing in your current one. The following conditions from the Education and Skills Funding Agency apply: On Job Seeker s Allowance (JSA) including JSA National Insurance Credit only On Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) in the Work Related Activity Group (WRAG) Learners who receive Universal Credit, work less than 16 hours per week at minimum wage and are determined by JobCentre Plus as being in one of the following groups:

Work related Requirements, Work Preparation, Work-Focused interview. Learners who receive other state benefits, work less than 16 hours per week at minimum wage and the subject they wish to study would be directly relevant to their future employment prospects. You will be asked to complete an additional form related to your benefits and to provide proof that you are receiving them. Please ask the Admissions team for further information. For other students: You can also get full funding on some courses if you are: Aged 16-18 on 31st August 2017 and not enrolled full or part time at another College/ Sixth form. An individual who has not reached GCSE level C/4 or above in English and Maths and now wish to study towards a Level 2 qualification in either Maths or English. (Applies to specific qualifications only) You will need to produce recent evidence of benefit a letter from Jobcentre Plus or Award Notice. 11

Please note JCP40 is not acceptable. Community Learning Places for FREE A limited number of places on certain courses are available to students at either a minimal cost - 10% of the advertised cost or free if the advertised price is less than 40. To qualify for this reduced fee, you will need to produce evidence of one of the following: Being on Jobseeker Allowance (JSA) Being on Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) Receiving pension credits You will need to produce recent evidence of benefit dated within three months. Only a limited number of places are on offer each term. Qualifying students are limited to two places under this offer during 2017-18 and regular attendance will be expected. 12

Support & guidance The College is here to help all our students succeed and we offer a range of services to ensure students are fully supported. Student Services Our friendly, supportive staff provide a variety of information, advice and support to meet your needs whilst at college. Practical support We can advise you on lots of things, from finance to careers. Our Student Services team are on hand and approachable and they can direct you to outside services where necessary. Personal support Our Student Services and Study Support teams include friendly and professionally qualified staff who can help. 15

Special educational needs and disability We welcome applications from students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities and wherever possible we will do what we can to meet your needs. The College Nursery The College Nursery in Bracknell is open to all students and the general public. The nursery offers a secure outside area including a sensory and physical garden. The nursery now also has longer opening hours. See our website for details 16
