Monday Actorshop: Actorshop are a BAFTA award winning company that use the power of theatre to create programmes for schools and colleges. Speaking to students and teachers, the scenarios explore the ever-changing, daily pressures placed on young people. During performances, students decide how the actor should handle the challenges they face, offering students the opportunity to explore a path for resilience. Their decisions are enacted and the consequences of actions unpacked in a safe and non-judgmental environment. 4

Tuesday Team Challenge: Mile End Park Mile End Park is an active and vibrant park which offers a wide range of facilities from sports to art in the environment. The park has and continues to forge genuine community partnerships with all in the local area. Tasks will vary, from shifting compost, to mulching, weeding, trimming hedges, painting or wood staining, taking weed out of the lakes, building benches and so forth. Transformation Trust: Barclays Life Skills The Transformation Trust is a children s education charity. They work with schools to deliver the Barclays Life Skills employability programme to students. The programme involves discussion and activities on the themes of money, work and people skills. Newham College: Taster Sessions Newham College have pulled together a programme of taster sessions and workshops for students to find out more about post-16 options. Women in the Workplace: 60 students will have the opportunity to hear from Gail McManus, an inspirational female figure who is the CEO and founder of a hugely successful private equity and recruitment company. Gail is an incredibly successful woman in terms of her career, family and personal life and will be speaking to our Year 10 girls to motivate and advise them, to show that this lifestyle can be achieved by women, not just men! Greenwich University: The University of Greenwich is offering a taster day for students to explore its infamous grounds and find out more about University life. 6

Wednesday Team Challenge: Victoria Park Victoria Park is one of London s most important historic parks and its oldest public park. It has been used by millions of Londoners for nearly 170 years as a place of healthy recreation, sports, play and relaxation. The park is the largest in Tower Hamlets, and is bordered on its northern boundary by the London Borough of Hackney. Students will work in teams to renovate a bench each. This will include sanding down, preparing the surfaces, staining the wood and repainting them. The Money Charity: Money Skills Workshop The Money Charity is the UK s financial capability charity, who empower young people across the UK to build the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours, to make the most of their money throughout their lives. School of African and Oriental Studies: Routes into Language SOAS University are offering a taster day to find out more about studying at SOAS and the diverse range of opportunities for students to partake in! Transformation Trust: Barclays Life Skills Newham College: Taster Sessions HSBC Career Insight Visit 14 students will participate in a Careers Insight Visit at HSBC, where they will learn about HSBC, the range of careers available at the bank, and the variety of entry routes. 8

Newham College Sky Academy: Career Lab Three students will be selected to take part in a very exciting opportunity exploring Sky Academy s Career Lab, finding out about roles in the media industry. Transformation Trust: Barclays Life Skills Clifford Chance: Raising Aspirations Clifford Chance LLP is a multi-national law firm headquartered in London and a member of the "Magic Circle" of leading British law firms. Students will partake in activities based on the life of a lawyer and find out more about careers in to law and opportunities available. City University As one of the leading universities in Social Sciences and a business school that ranks within the top 1% in the world, students will be given the opportunity to find out more about life at City University! 10

Thursday Barclays Human Resources/ Finance Careers Workshop 15 students will visit Barclays and learn about the different routes into starting a career at the bank. They will also engage in interactive activities based around interview skills and CV development in order to help them understand how to successfully apply for certain recruitment programmes at Barclays. JP Morgan Enterprise Day 50 students will work with 45 interns at JP Morgan on an Enterprise Day at East Ham Town Hall. The Enterprise day will be focussed around the theme social enterprise where students, with the support of the interns, will have to develop a product or service which will have a positive impact on their local community. It will be a competitive event, with prizes for the winning team and the 2 runner up groups. 11

Friday Macquarie and HSBC Employability Skills Session All of Year 10 will work with interns from Macquarie Bank and graduates from HSBC in a number of employability and further education focussed activities. The year group will be split in half, where one group will discuss CVs and create their own, reflecting on the skills and experiences they have developed and been exposed to throughout World of Work Week. In this session students will also be supported in developing their personal statements by receiving feedback and listening to personal stories from Interns. The second session will expose students to a graduate assessment centre style exercise, where they will engage in an activity which will be observed and commented on by interns. In addition, students will experience panel interviews through a role play session where students will play both panel interviewers and interviewees. 13

Team Challenges: Mile End Park During the day you will be working in an area well-loved and used by the community in Mile End Park. Upon arrival at the park please meet outside the Art Pavilion building. The schedule for the day will be: 10.00 Arrive at Mile End Park 10.15 - Site induction and health and safety talks 10.30 - Start tasks 12.30 Lunch 13.30 Resume tasks 15.30 Pack up tools and equipment 16.00 Finish Lunch and refreshment is not provided. Please bring a packed lunch and enough liquids to last you the day. Two bottles of water per person are advisable. 16

Team Challenges: What should I wear? Old comfortable clothing anything you do not mind getting dirty! Layering clothes are ideal to adapt to changing weather, regulate body temperature and keep warm! It is important that you wear long sleeved tops and full trousers, arms and legs should not be exposed, otherwise you won t be able to take part. Shorts over tights/leggings or ¾ length trousers are not acceptable. Please dress to be outdoors and bring weather-proofs It is advisable to bring caps/hats and waterproof jackets in case of light drizzle You must wear sensible footwear, e.g. sturdy, thick soled footwear, lace up trainers, walking boots or steel toe boots if you have them. You should not wear pumps, open toe shoes, flipflops, UGG boots or fashion shoes. 18
