Methodist History, 46:2 (January 2008) EDITOR S NOTE A word of explanation about subscription rates is in order. If you look at the rates as posted on the inside back cover, you will notice that subscriptions for those in Canada are substantially higher than for those in the United States and for those in all other countries much higher still. This is solely driven by the cost of postage. The United States Postal Service (USPS) has instituted a new rate schedule that significantly increases the rates for mailing to addresses outside the United States. The USPS has eliminated second class postage for international mail. Within the scope of our mailing eligibility, all mail posted to destinations outside the United States must be sent first class. The cost of the subscription only covers printing and some of the postage. The General Commission on Archives and History is absorbing some of the increase in postage in order to keep the subscription increases as small as possible. Honoraria are not paid to contributors. Editorial costs are covered by the General Commission as part of staff responsibilities. The publication of Methodist History is a vital part of the ministry of the General Commission. An alternative which may be especially helpful to our international subscribers is that each issue is now also available in PDF format. The PDF subscription rates are $5.00 for one year, $7.50 for two years, and $10.00 for four years. These rates would apply to anyone, regardless of the country of residence. PDF subscriptions would be emailed as an attachment to you. For more details about subscriptions please visit our website at http://www. gcah.org/methodist_history/methodist_history.htm or write to the General Commission on Archives and History at P.O. Box 127, Madison, NJ 07940. The digital revolution has led to so many changes in the way we do things. I want to be able to deliver Methodist History to you in this most convenient and affordable way possible. Your suggestions and comments are welcomed on how to keep this as an important forum for research and writing in our ministry of memory. Robert J. Williams 67
