What s Happening in Early Childhood Education? Let s Get Ready for Kindergarten Parents of incoming kindergartners for the 2016-2017 School Year are invited to this free event planned for Tuesday, May 10 or Thursday, May 12 at the New Hope Learning Center, 8301 47 th Avenue North, in New Hope. Free child care is available for children 2-8 years of age. This event is a great opportunity for parents to connect with other parents, foster children s kindergarten readiness skills, and learn how to relate summer experiences to literacy, math and social emotional development. Each family will receive a free Kindergarten Summer Kit! Please RSVP to 763-504-4170 or e-mail ECFE_281@rdale.org Early Childhood Screening is required for all children prior to entrance in kindergarten. Screening is a quick and simple check of your 3 to 5 year old child s growth and development. Screening needs to be done only once, is free, and takes about an hour. Children between the ages of 3 to 5 are screened. If your child begins kindergarten this fall and has not had an Early Childhood Screening, call 763-504-4180 to schedule an appointment. Preschool Programs Now Available Creative Play 2016-2017 Preschool for children 3 to 5 years old. Emphasis is on constructive play time, starting to recognize numbers and letters, listening and language skills, developing eye-hand coordination, making friends and participating in groups and learning independence. Registration is now open and classes are filling up fast. Please stop by the Creative Play offices or register online at rdale.feepay.com. Children must be the correct age by September 1, 2016. Great Start 2016-2017 Preschool offers early education for children 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2016. Families must live within the attendance area of Forest, Lakeview, Meadow Lake, Neill, Noble, Northport or Sonnesyn elementary schools. This program provides 2 ½ hour preschool classes, five mornings a week. Qualification guidelines state that annual gross family income must fall within certain guidelines and/or the child must be an English language learner. Registration is now open and classes are filling up fast. Please stop by the Great Start offices to register. For more information on Creative Play or Great Start please call 763-504-5330. Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) 2016-2017 offers classes for parents and their children, birth through prekindergarten. Camp will meet at Sandburg, but we will travel to local disc golf courses throughout the week. Bus transportation provided to the disc golf courses.
