Freshman Lit & Comp

Freshman Lit & Comp Honors 30 + min/night homework Reading/Writing skills at least proficient or above Solid Grammar concepts/rules going into the class. Ready to work harder, demonstrate more perseverance, more leadership, more risktaking. Regular 30 min/night homework

Science

Science Honors Earth Science 30 Minutes homework a night Honors option if student isn t enrolled in or completed Geometry More challenging than regular earth science. Flipped classroom notes are online and labs are done everyday. Honors Biology 30 minutes a night 10 th grade level course Must be enrolled in or completed Geometry Challenging hard to get an A Preparation for AP Bio

Social Studies

World Regional Geography Honors 30-45 minutes of homework each night. Less if they use class time. More in depth discussions, more difficult tests, more writing and a research project. Regular 20-30 minutes of homework each night. Less if they use class time.

World Language Need current teacher signature IF going on to 2 nd Level (E.g. Spanish 2)

World Language Taking American Sign Language can prepare you to work with the deaf community in the United States. We have ASL through Honors ASL 4. ASL is not considered a world language but rather an American language. Taking multiple years of world language can make you more competitive in the global marketplace. Think about what language you would like to take for 2 3 years.

Math If recommended for Lab remember to sign up for it as one of your year long electives!!

Band - sign up for Marching/ Concert Band A&B & TOTAL FITNESS ROTC (application required) Student Council (complete application) Russian 1 will be offered as an elective only does not count for a World Language. Adjustments will be made later if you audition and are selected for a higher skill level program.

Finish 8 th Grade Strong Study Habits are exactly that: HABITS Homework versus class work Attendance Try your hardest CMAS/PARCC (it could affect your elective choices)

Tips for 9 th Grade Do your Homework!!! If you are absent talk to your teachers ASAP Get involved in Clubs, Sports, Activities. Use your class time and free time well (it could save you a lot of homework time) Learn how to study (even our brightest students have to learn how to take good notes & study for tests)!! Have good attendance = highly linked to passing
