A Level Preparation Eligibility: Students preparing for A Levels in French language Location: Brittany Contents: Different options are available and the programme is built according to the group s interests and needs The texts and oral materials are based on themes for A Level in French A complete revision programme consisting of all the necessary areas of study (grammar, comprehension, phonetics). Aims: to develop understanding of the spoken and written forms of French in a range of contexts to develop the ability to communicate effectively in French, through both the spoken and written word, using a range of vocabulary and structures to develop knowledge and understanding of the French grammar, and the ability to apply it to apply the knowledge and understanding acquired in a variety of relevant contexts reflecting the students previous learning and maturity to provide a suitable foundation for further study and/or practical use of French. Bespoke Group Programmes Eligibility: Age range: 13-18 years Location: Brittany CIEL offers youth programs only for closed groups accompanied by a teacher or a supervisor from their home country. Students must be between 13 and 18 years old. Instructors focus on communication and speaking skills to encourage students to speak French. Cultural and sports activities complete the French courses taught in the mornings. These tailored programmes are adapted to the goals set for each group and the accompanying cultural activities depend on seasonal events (Festivals in Brittany, for example). Activities may be chosen among those listed below to customize a programme: sailing windsurfing theatre movies short trips discovery (Océanopolis ) adventure (Accrobranche, )

Students are housed in host families and will thus gain an insider s view of the culture and customs of the French in Brittany. Trips are organized at the week-ends so that the students can explore Brittany s cultural and natural assets. Preparation for French Examinations Eligibility: Students preparing for the TCF, DILF, DELF and DALF exams Programme type: Adults, Youth groups, Youth Location: Brittany The school prepares you to take the TCF, DILF, DELF, DALF exams, which certify your fluency in French with universities and employers. DELF and DALF workshops Additional workshops in preparation to examinations are available during the two weeks prior to taking a French examination. Option Preparation for DELF/DALF/TCF (*) between 3 and 12 students per class. 2 weeks with 12 hours of tuition (3 X 2 hours per week) *Activities studied during regular courses develop competencies required for the DELF/DALF/TCF. The option gives you intensive training on the different parts of the examination. DILF, DELF and DALF exams DILF (Diplome initial de Langue Francaise), DELF* (Diplôme d Etudes en Langue Française) and DALF** (Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française) are national, French language diplomas for foreigners, with which you can demonstrate your fluency in the French language with companies and universities. DELF, is coordinated by the National French Education Department and based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), for the languages of the European council. Each candidate may take one of the six levels of the DELF (A1, A2, B1, or B2) and DALF (C1 or C2). The same candidate may choose to apply for several diplomas during the same exam session. Each of the diplomas is made of tests evaluating 4 competencies: oral comprehension and speaking, written comprehension and writing. Examination dates for DILF: Session Test Registration 1 6 October 2009 before 7 September 2009 2 1 December 2009 before 2 November 2009 TCF Exam: Test de Connaissance du Français TCF (Test of French Knowledge) is an examination of the National Education Department. It is a test of general French language made for non-native speakers of French wishing to certify their level of French for professional or personal reasons. The TCF test is consists of 80 multiple choice questions in the compulsory section, where only one answer from the four alternatives given is correct. There are also two optional sections testing the speaking skills, in which the questions are asked in increasing order of difficulty. The grading of the test has been carried out by the CIEP. The compulsory sections are graded with a scanner, and the optional ones proof read twice by a trained and authorized team of graders. Grades are translated into 6 levels, from elementary to advanced according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for teaching and learning of languages of the European Council and ALTA, of which the CIEP is a member. Accomodation (Host Family, half board, ALFMED student residence or CITEA luxury residence) Free access to ALFMED facilities from 8 am to 7 pm (Mon to Fri), including Wi- Fi, Internet and staff support 7 Breakfasts and 7 lunches in typical French restaurants (i.e. Gastro Restaurants, Creperies) Free accommodation for the tutor/group leader. Transfers from the Perpignan train station or local airport. French Sports Summer Eligibility: Groups only, 10 students minimum Location: Perpignan ALFMED language school welcomes groups and can provide tailor-made courses to suit your requirements. Junior Summer Program Eligibility: Age range: 13-16, Levels: A1 A2 B1, Youth Location: Perpignan Comprised of a period of 2 weeks, with a strong emphasis on communication skills, this course is an effective and affordable way to learn French in pleasant surroundings. Juniors Program starts on Monday with "Le petit déjeuner d'accueil au Café", followed by an oral validation of the on-line placement test the student has taken when registering for the course. The programme includes the following: 30 hours of tuition in French: 3 hours every day (Monday to Friday) - see the section Teaching Methods in the School Overview tab Small Groups (10 students max.) 5 hours per week of guided work in the lab based on tailored programmes. Outings in Perpignan with the class: a guided tour of Perpignan, workshops to learn about the local history and architecture, etc. 1 excursion in the outskirts of Perpignan 5 sessions of sport in a specialized centre: sailing, wind surfing, horse riding or golf Cultural and linguistic workshops every day Participation in social events (festivals, concerts, sport championships...) French Multi Sports Eligibility: all Location: Bois-le-Roi (Paris Metropolitan Area) This programme is available to groups of 10 or more students for stays of 7 or 14 days. It is available all year round, however bookings for summer holidays period need to be done min 6 months in advance. It is mainly designed for young people eager to develop their French language skills whilst benefiting from an exciting variety of sports activities. Lessons are taught in all levels, from beginners to advanced. The groups have maximum 10 students. All students constituting a group need to be of similar level to benefit from the lessons in full extent. All sports activities will be supervised by French instructors of the Base de Loiser Bois-le-Roi. The 1 week French Multi Sports Programme includes: 15 weekly French lessons (1 lesson = 60 minutes) Student accommodation (half board or full board, 4-8 students per room) 5 x 2 hours weekly sports sessions in tennis (indoor courts), horse back riding, golf and disc-golf per week One group leader per a group of 10 students free of charge Intensive French Eligibility: all Location: Bois-le-Roi (Paris Metropolitan Area) This programme is available to groups of 10 or more students for stays of 7 days. Spanish plus Dance Eligibility: Age range: 14 + yrs, Levels: Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced, Youth Location: Granada and Almuñécar Best choice for students seeking a broad, communication based programme designed to develop all the key language skills, students of Spanish with a passion for dance and wish to experience all that Spain has to offer (Flamenco, Sevillanas and Ballroom dancing). Language classes are held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In the afternoons, dance lessons take place at ArteDanza Centre. Students may choose between Flamenco, Sevillanas and Ballroom dancing and a combination of all three. Any combination is feasible. Great exercise, good fun, lots of laughs and friendly, happy people! The Spanish plus Dance Programme includes: 20 weekly Spanish classes (1 lesson = 45 minutes) 10 weekly dance lessons (1 lesson = 45 minutes) At least 2 extra-curricular activities per week Homestay accommodation in a single/double room with full board 1 whole day excursion to Granada or Málaga on Saturday City tour Laundry service once a week Certificate of attendance issued by CICA and Diploma from dance school One group leader per a group of 15 students free of charge. Spanish plus Golf Eligibility: Age range: 14 +, Levels: Beginner to Upper Advanced Location: Granada and Almuñécar Best choice for students seeking a broad, communication based program designed to develop all the key language skills, and those wanting to combine a language course and golf. Spanish classes are taught from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In the afternoons, golf lessons take place from 17:00 to 20:00 at Los Moriscos golf course, containing 3 hours of golf instruction daily including on-course play with a professional. The minimum number of students required to form a group is 4 persons.

In the afternoons, horse riding lessons take place at La Herradura Riding Centre, where 2 hours of coaching in riding is given daily from Monday to Friday by qualified B.H.S. instructors. Ride out in the beautiful countryside along mountain paths, river beds and the beach or have a lesson in the large arena. The minimum number of students required to form a group is 3. Spanish plus Tennis Eligibility: Age range: 14 +, Levels: Beginner to Upper Advanced Location: Granada and Almuñécar Best choice for students seeking a broad, communication based program designed to develop all the key language skills, and those wishing to combine a language course and tennis. Spanish classes are taught from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In the afternoons, tennis lessons take place at Rio Verde Tennis Club. The camp offers 2 hours of tennis coaching daily from Monday to Friday with expert instructors. Whether you are new to tennis, or a veteran who needs to improve his or her backhand, the coaches provide personalised attention! The minimum number of students to form a group is 4 persons. The Spanish plus Tennis Programme includes: 20 weekly Spanish classes (1 lesson = 45 minutes) 10 weekly lessons of tennis coaching (1 lesson = 60 minutes) At least 2 extra-curricular activities per week Homestay accommodation in a single or double room with full board 1 full day excursion to Granada or Málaga on Saturday City tour Laundry service once a week Certificate of attendance issued by CICA and Diploma from the tennis school One group leader per a group of 15 students free of charge. Spanish plus Diving Program will give students the opportunity to learn Spanish and become PADI certified divers (Open Water & Advanced).

D.E.L.E. Exam Preparation Eligibility: Age range: 17+, Spanish level: Suitable for all levels Programme type: Adults, Youth groups, Youth Location: San Sebastian The D.E.L.E. (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera, Certifica of Spanish as a Foreign Language) is the only Spanish as a second language certification that is officially recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. DELE is a four-week course designed to prepare you for one of the 3 levels (Beginner, Intermediate, and Proficiency) of the Cervantes Institute Examination. Depending on their Spanish level, we also accept students for shorter periods of time. The course consists of twenty Intensive 20 (see programme description below) lessons per week accompanied by ten lessons per week to prepare you for the exam in a smaller group. 1 lesson = 45 minutes. This course is the ideal option for stays of up to 8 weeks, and allows you to improve your Spanish level quickly while maintaining the group structure of the class. It has been developed to allow for a complete cultural immersion into life in San Sebastian along such themes as local sports, new friends and the cultural and recreational activities found there. If there is only 1 student, the classes in mini-group will be shortened to 45 minutes per day. If there are 2 students, the classes in mini-group will be shortened to 60 minutes per day. SURFING SUPPLEMENT Eligibility: All Programme type: Adults, Youth groups, Youth Location: San Sebastian You can add a SURFING course to any Spanish course: 1 hour surfing class per day from Monday to Friday, with a maximum of 6 students per instructor. All the equipment is provided (board, wetsuit, insurance and a hot shower in the winter). If there are not enough people to form a group, the number of hours per week will be reduced accordingly. Lacunza Summer Camp Eligibility: Age range: 7 to 15, Youth Location: San Sebastian The Camp is a chance for students aged 7 to 15 to practice their English or Spanish, and takes place between the 28th of June and the 1st of August. The course consists of 3 hours of lessons per day from Monday to Friday in classes of 4 to12 students, with activities every afternoon and all-day activities at the weekends. The accommodation at the Camp is full board. Lacunza Summer Camp is situated in the Spanish province of Guipuzcoa in the quiet mountain town of Urnieta, located just 10 kilometres from San Sebastian and its beaches. The Camp receives numerous students from many different European countries and the rest of the world coming to learn Spanish or English. These young students of varied cultural backgrounds will live and learn together at the camp, enriching their life experience as they expand their knowledge of foreign people and cultures through first-hand contact, thus embracing and encouraging diversity. Lacunza Summer Camp has been developed with the various requirements and schedules of our students in mind. Therefore, we offer three types of courses: Half Day Monday to Friday, from 09.30 to 14.00, the students will participate in the language classes and the activities that take place before lunch. Day Camp Monday to Friday, from 09:30 to 19:30. This option has been designed for students who want to enjoy the entire day at camp and sleep at home. Students will participate in the language classes as well as the afternoon sports and other activities. Overnight From Sunday to Saturday, students staying at the camp will be immersed in an accepting and secure international atmosphere 24 hours a day 7 days a week, which provides them with the chance to practice their language skills while in the classroom, during the activities and excursions and while sharing a room with other students from other parts of the world. This programme is unique and includes an abundance of opportunities for students to practice their communication skills and foster international friendships. Half Day and Day Camp Bus Transfer For students participating in Half Day or Day Camp programmes, Lacunza Summer Camp provides a private bus transfer service from the city centre to the camp location and back each day. A camp monitor will be present on the bus at all times. 2009 Starting Dates The camp will begin on Sunday, June 28th and finish on Saturday, August 1st, 2009. The students may start any Monday (Overnight students start on Sunday) between these dates. The minimum duration of stay is 2 weeks.
