Math with Mrs. George In Mrs. George s 1 st and 3 rd hour Geometry classes, students researched the geometric patchwork techniques of the Seminoles of southern Florida from the early 1900 s. The students then made their own patchwork designs out of colored paper, measured the area of every shape within the design, and presented their projects to the class. MT M/HS Newsletter Page 4 of 12

The Geometry students in Mrs. George s 7 th hour class researched different products and why/how they have changed shapes throughout the years. They chose two to three products to analyze, comparing sizes and computing volumes and surface areas of the packaging. They were shocked to see how many companies changed items to make them more appealing to consumers when in fact the companies greatly downsized their products to make greater profits.
