Each week there will be 5 homework tasks for you to complete. Our major project this term is to complete the front page of a newspaper. NEWSPAPER TASK Every week there is a newspaper task for you to complete. Each of these tasks will form part of your newspaper which you will put together in WEEK 8 and 9. Your finished newspaper will include 2 news articles (with photos), an editorial, a letter to the editor, a masthead and an advert. WEEK 1 Plan main article. WEEK 2 Write main article. WEEK 3 Write Letter to the Editor. WEEK 4 Plan and design Masthead. WEEK 5 Write an editorial article. WEEK 6 Plan and design an advert. WEEK 7 Write a news article. WEEK 8 Putting it together. WEEK 9 Putting it together NEWSPAPER UNIT HELP - This homework booklet provides a general overview of homework each week. Detailed notes on completing each of the tasks are included in the homework section of Kiwi Kids News. These notes will explain exactly what you need to do and provide examples. SAVING YOUR WORK There are two options to saving you work from week to week Save your work to the master newspaper file which your teacher will give you. Save your work to a memory stick. We suggest you do both. Save your work to the master newspaper file and develop your newspaper over the term and also keep a copy on your memory stick. READING You must read for 15mins each night. After you have completed your reading please get it signed by a caregiver. VOCAB / GRAMMAR This term each we are doing a cross word each week to work on our vocabulary. IN THE NEWS Visit the Kiwi Kids News website and write the title and details of news articles that interest you. SUDOKU Complete the Sudoku puzzle. The same Sudoku puzzle will be on the Kiwi Kids Homework page. Answers will be on the website on Friday. Sudoku - also known as "Number Place" - is a logic-based, combinatorial number-placement puzzle. The aim of Sudoku is to enter a number from 1 through 9 in each cell of a grid, most frequently a 9 9 grid made up of 3 3 sub grids. Each row, column and region must contain only one instance of each number. All schools that have signed up to the homework programme get access to our Kiwi Kids Quiz. This year there is a weekly 10 question quiz, a 30 question quiz at the end of each term and Super Quiz in December. The Kiwi Kids Quiz can be found at www.kiwikidsnews.co.nz/quiz Once you have completed the quiz you can record your results on the following page.
