Therefore, candidates should have the recommended language skills at the start of the study period. The recommended instruction level for the language, according to CEFR, is B1. After submitting this application students should send a Learning Agreement for Studies, duly approved by their home institution, for analysis. Applications should be sent by post or e-mail to the International / Mobility Office of Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, before the following deadlines: 1 st Semester/Annual : 30 th June 2017 2 nd Semester : 31 st October 2017 Erasmus placement If you are interested in doing an Erasmus placement /project in a research group of Faculdade de Ciências, you should do the following: 1. Find a Research Centre or Group in which you are interested in. 2. Contact directly the Centre and ask for an official acceptance. 3. If you have been accepted by the Research Centre, then contact the Mobility Office informing us of the name of the supervisor and Centre. You should contact the Faculty of Sciences International/Mobility Office already with the official acceptance from a supervisor and research centre at least two months before the start of your Erasmus placement. Academic calendar Autumn Semester/1 st Semester Starts in the 2 nd or 3 rd week of September and ends in January/February including the examination period. Spring Semester / 2 nd Semester Starts in the 2 nd or 3 rd week of February and ends in July including the examination period. For reference the first day of classes of the academic year 2016-2017 started on 12 th September 2016

Language requirements Classes are lectured in Portuguese. However, some Master level courses might be lectured in English if the class has foreign students and the Professor agrees to lecture in English. Please check the language requirements of each department as you should pay attention to the language of instruction. A reasonable knowledge in Portuguese is therefore essential, except for those who are coming for a training period or research project. A presentation of a certificate showing proficiency in Portuguese or in English is compulsory. According to CEFR levels, the B1 level is the minimum required for the acceptance of your application. Portuguese language courses The University of Lisbon organizes Portuguese Language Courses specifically for Erasmus Students in the beginning of each semester. Courses take place at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. Professors may contemplate other elements, like class attendance and participation, to add to exams and essay grades, which can affect your final grade. Accommodation in ULisboa Erasmus students have the possibility to stay at the Residences for students of Universidade de Lisboa. However, due to the very limited number of places for exchange students it is not possible to guarantee accommodation for everyone. The International/Mobility Office is responsible for managing the reservations directly with the Accommodation Services of the University of Lisbon according to the arrival date of complete applications at our Office, including the accommodation form (available here).
