2. Applications are invited for the following posts in National Centre for Nanoscience & Nano Technology, University of Mumbai on tenure basis for a period of five years on prescribed pay band from the reserved and open Categories within 30 days. Qualification for the post of Scientist are given below: Scientist G:- Good academic record with Ph.D in Engineering/Sciences/MBBS/MS having hands on experience in stem cell research/tissue engineering/nano drug delivery or in nanoelectronics/nanophotonics is desired. Post doctoral experience with proven publication record with 10 years of experience in research at the University/National Level institutions/ abroad universities/ industrial R&D centres are highly desired. Publications in international journals of repute (including SCI Indian journals having impact factor) /international conferences and/or patents are highly desirable. Scientist F:- Good academic record with a Ph.D in Engineering/Sciences/MBBS/MS and preferably post doctoral experience in nano device fabrication and proven experience in Clean Room Protocol for at least five years is desired. Publications in international journals of repute (including SCI Indian journals having impact factor) /international conferences and/or patents are highly desirable. The applicant is expected to provide lead role in running the state of the art clean room facility available at the centre. Scientist E:- Good academic record with a doctoral degree. Good academic record with Ph.D/M.S in Mechanical / Precision Engineering/ Mechatronics /with at least two years of experience in semiconductor industry / research institution having Class 100 Clean room facilities. Practical experience in Nanofabrication, LASER based precision machining (cutting, welding, drilling), design and develop various tools required for the research work are highly desired. The applicant is expected to provide lead role in prototype development in close collaboration with the research groups existing at the centre. Publications in international journals of repute (including SCI Indian journals having impact factor) /international conferences and/or patents are highly desirable. Scientist C:- Good academic record with a doctoral degree in Science (Physics / Chemistry / Life Science/Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical Sciences) or Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Computer / Biomedical) with focus in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. About 05 publications in international journals of repute (including SCI Indian journals having impact factor) and/or patents are highly desirable. Qualification for the post of Scientific Assistants are given below: Scientific Assistant C :- Good academic record with a M.Sc. in Sciences or B.E/B.Tech in Instrumentation. Hands on experience in operating and maintenance of sophisticated instruments such as Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, Focused Ion Beam, Electron Beam Lithography, Atomic Force Microscopy, Scanning Probe Microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is desired. Experiences in co-ordinating the admin for the procurement of advanced equipments, spares, modules are desirable. Candidates with more than 500 hours of experience in operating at least one of the above instruments will be preferred. Scientific Assistant B :- Good academic record with a M.Sc., in Sciences. At least one year of research experience is desired to assist the laboratory training programme of the center. Experience in operating sophisticated instruments such as Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, Focused Ion Beam, Electron Beam Lithography, Atomic Force Microscopy, Scanning Probe Microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy will be an added advantage. Relaxation of the 5% marks from 55% to 50% of the marks shall be applicable to SC/ST/Differently abled (Physically and Visually differently abled) category candidates as per UGC rules. 5% relaxation from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D Degree holders who have obtained their Master's Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.

In view of above qualification of scientist is equivalent as teaching post of Professor and Reader and pay scale also high. Application in the prescribed form (1 + 4 copies) including Annexure-A together with attested copies of certificates along with a Demand Draft of a Nationalized Bank for the amount of Rs.500/- in case of candidates belonging to general category and Rs. 300/- in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/DT and NT drawn in favor of the Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai, should be sent in an envelope subscribed with Application for the post of Scientist G, Scientist F, Scientist E, Scientist D, Scientist C, Scientific Assistant C and Scientific Assistant B in Nano Science and Nano Technology, University of Mumbai so as to reach the Registrar, University of Mumbai, Fort, Mumbai-400 032 within 30 days from the date of publication of this advertisement (i.e. upto 16 th November, 2013). Application received after 30 days from the date of publication of this advertisement will not be considered. Andaman and Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep may send their applications so as to reach the Registrar on or before 1 st December, 2013. The University shall not responsible for any postal delay. In addition to pay they will be entitled of DA, HRA, CLA, etc. According to the University rules. Teachers of the University are permitted to take up outside work according to the University rules. Other conditions may very depending upon the guidelines from the Government of Maharashtra. The appointees on the posts are not covered by any pension scheme or the salary payment scheme of State Government. However, their services will governed as per the rules, statutes and ordinances of the University and Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994. Additional increments may be awarded depending upon qualifications and experience. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Reservation for women will be as per the directions issued by the Vice-Chancellor vide circular No BCC-16/74/98, dated 10 th March, 1998. If suitable women candidates are not available the same post will be treated as unreserved. 2. Reservation not less than 3% for disabled persons as per G.R. ODO/1297/E-382/97/ASTHA-1, dated 26 th November, 1998, will be available, subject to availability/suitability. 3. The candidates belonging to the reserved categories should produce caste certificate and caste validity certificate issued by the competent authority in prescribed form, otherwise the application is likely to be rejected. 4. Educational qualification, experience etc. mentioned in this advt./notification indicate the minimum eligibility for the relevant posts. However, if the number of prima facie eligible candidates applied for post is disproportionately large in comparison to the number of posts available, suitable criteria may be adopted for shortlisting candidates for interview. For adopting criteria candidates having higher qualifications and/or experience will be considered. Criteria so adopted will depend upon the circumstances prevailing on each occasion of recruitment. This may result in non-selection of candidates for interview, though they fulfill requirements prescribed in the Advt. or who were called for interview for the same post on earlier occasion. 11. The appointee would be covered under new Defined Contribution Pension Scheme and that the existing Pension Scheme (i.e. Maharashtra Civil Services {Pension} Rules, 1982 and Maharashtra Civil Services (Commutation of Pension Rules, 1984) and General Provident Fund Scheme will not be applicable to them. 12. As per provisions under the section 76(6) of the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994 for the post of Professor, the selection committee may recommend for appointment of other person, who may not have applied or appeared before it. 13. If the space provided is insufficient, information may be given on a separate sheet duly signed by the candidates and the same may be sent with the application. 5. Applications should be sent to Registrar, (Teaching Apppointments Unit), University of Mumbai, University Buildings, 1 st Floor, Room No. 113, Fort, Mumbai 400 032, so as to reach him on or before the last date prescribed. The University reserves the right of accepting/ rejecting applications received after the prescribed last date. 6. Candidate should send with every application a Crossed Demand Draft on a Scheduled/ Nationalised Bank for the amount drawn in favour of Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai, Payable at Mumbai :- Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundread only) in the case of candidates belonging to general category and Rs. 300/- (Rupees Three Hundread Only) in case of candidates belonging to reserved category. 7. Candidates who apply for more than one post should send separate application/s alongwith the requisite fee by means of a Crossed Demand Draft. 8. Money Orders or Cheques or Cash will not be accepted by the University. 9. The fee will not be refunded once an application has been received by the University. 10. Any change of address given in column No. 2 of the application form should at once by communicated to the Registrar, Teaching Apppointments Unit, University of Mumbai, Mumbai 400 032. 11. Incomplete applications and applications without the requisite fee will not be considered. 12. Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they posses the prescribed qualifications and it is for the candidates themselves to ensure that they possess the prescribed qualifications. No inquiry asking for advise as to eligibility will be entertained. 13. Candidates called for interview will have to present themselves at their own expenses. 14. Canvancing direct or indirect will be disqualification. 15. The Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) proforma based on Academic Performance Indicator (API) must be filled by the candidate.
