Also please advise the office if you are intending to leave St Patrick s at the end of 2017. WEEKLY VALUE Being Persistent Last Sunday s Gospel tells the story of a king who invited people to the wedding of his son. Instead of taking up this initiation and enjoying the hospitality of the king, many just decided to refuse the invitation. Put yourself in the same situation and imagine you were planning a birthday party. It was the party of your dreams. You made lots of great plans, invited all your favourite people and told them all about this terrific party you were having. Then, shortly before the party, people started calling and giving ridiculous excuses as to why they could not come. Think how that would make you feel. When we invite people we care about, we feel badly when they can t come, even if they have a good excuse. It is just not as much fun when people we like aren t with us to enjoy something. But if we think they just don t want to come, that they really don t have a good excuse, that really make us feel upset. We are invited to God s banquet. Jesus is trying to show us that we are all invited to eternal life with him in heaven. Jesus really wants us to be with him in heaven. That is because he loves us and cares about us. He has planned this wonderful surprise for us. But will we accept the invitation? The invitation has already come all we have to do is accept it. Yours sincerely Philip Mahony Principal Our next Parent Group meeting will be held next Tuesday 24th October at 2pm in the School Hall. All Parents are welcome to attend. Due to a number of issues, the parking area on the vacant land across the road will be closed in the coming weeks. The following issues have influenced us to make this decision; damage has occurred to some of the plumbing in this area, parents not crossing the road safely with their children, plus the council requires certain regulations for parking areas. It will only be used on special occasions. SCHOOL AND PARISH CHRISTMAS CAROLS WEDNESDAY 6TH DECEMBER AT 6PM

FROM THE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COORDINATOR By tradition, the Catholic Church dedicates each month of the year to a certain devotion. The month of October is dedicated to the holy rosary, one of the best known of all Catholic devotions. October includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7). The best way to celebrate the month is, of course, to pray the rosary, but these additional prayers can be incorporated into our daily prayers during this month, too. The feast was introduced by Pope St. Pius V (1504-1572) in the year 1571 to commemorate the miraculous victory of the Christian forces in the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571. The pope attributed more to the "arms" of the Rosary than the power of cannons and the valor of the soldiers who fought there. Legend tells us that the Rosary as a form of prayer was given to St. Dominic (1170-1221) by Mary, the Mother of Our Lord, who entrusted it to him as an aid in the conflicts with the Albigensians. In this month of October, let us consider this beautiful prayer of the Rosary as a means that we too can use in order to draw closer to Jesus and Mary by meditating on the great mysteries of our salvation. MASSES Parents and Friends are welcome to attend Mass with the Parish and school next term: Week 3 Wednesday 25th October 9am Year 2 Mass Ordinary Time 29 Week 4 Wednesday 1st November 9am Whole School Mass All Saints Day FEAST DAYS 17th October - St Ignatius of Antioch 18th October - St Luke 19th October - St Paul of the Cross 28th October - Sts Simon and Jude 1st November - All Saints 2nd November - All Soul s Day CONFIRMATION Please keep in your prayers the students of St Patrick s and our Parish as they prepare and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this month.
