Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme 2018-20 02 Assam University, Sichar 03 THE UNIVERSITY Assam University, Sichar was estabished in 1994 as a Centra University by an Act of Pariament enforced through Notification of the Government of India. Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme 2018-20 04 Assam University, Sichar 05 JAWAHARLAL NEHRU SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES & THE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION Estabished in 1997, the, Assam University (JNSMS-AU) has consoidated its position over the years as one of the premier B- Schoos in this country. During the three years 2013-15, JNSMS-AU has been accredited consecutivey by nationa rating agencies as the Outstanding B-Schoo in Eastern and Northeast India. The centra focus in JNSMS-AU has been on deveoping in students a strong bond with their Indian roots whie persistenty inspiring and enabing these earners to acquire goba vision and competency of a goba scae. A the three academic programmes are administered by the Schoo s Department of Business Administration (DBA-JNSMS). The programmes are handed by a competent Core DBA Facuty whose efforts are suppemented by a team of Jr. Consutants and Visiting Facuty. The DBA-Facuty has deveoped over the years competency in seect areas of Business Administration. The programme aims at equipping the students with a comprehensive set of skis and indepth understanding of the theory and practice of rea-ifemanagement within the framework of a muti-discipinary and muti-cutura setting. CBCS Courses: Within the framework of the Assam University Reguations, MBA students wi have to compusoriy pursue courses to be offered by other Department (s) under the CBCS Scheme. 3. Summer Internship: A MBA students, after their 2nd End-Semester Examination is over and before the commencement of the third semester in the second year, wi have to undergo summer internship of preferaby of eight weeks duration. On competion of his/her internship, every MBA student wi submit to the department a Internship-competion certificate issued by the organization where he/she underwent the internship. A report highighting his / her activities / findings / experience during the internship sha be submitted by the concerned student within four weeks from the date of commencement of the third semester. The Internship Project wi carry a tota of 4 credits. 70% of the tota weight in of it wi be assigned to satisfactory competion of the Summer Internship as evidenced from the Project report and 30% on due competion of a formaities, timey submission and presentation of the Report. The submitted report and the presentation wi be evauated by an Expert Committee consisting normay of One Professor of the Schoo, One Associate professor, Two Externa Experts and the Dean/HOD as Chairperson. 4. Dissertation: Within six weeks of commencement of the 3rd Semester casses, the Department wi notify the names of the Facuty assigning thereby the supervision-responsibiity for students project-study. Every student within 30 days of the said notification wi finaise in consutation with his/her supervisor his/her topic for the Project Work and sha submit a brief research proposa in writing. The department immediatey thereafter wi arrange a Seminar where every student wi have to specify his/her objectives of enquiry and the methodoogy of investigation. Necessary improvements in proposas wi have to be made as per opinions of the Experts/Facuty present during the presentation. Project Work/Fied study pertaining to the approved project-proposa wi have to be competed during the six weeks immediatey foowing the competion of the 3rd Semester Examination. These six weeks wi be reserved excusivey for students Project Work/Fied study when no teaching session for other papers wi be provided in the Departmenta Routine. On competion of the Fied Study, every student wi have to submit to the department a Fied-Study Competion certificate from his/her respective Supervisor, based on which the name of the student wi be enisted for presentation. Non-submission of the Fied-study Competion certificate in due time wi be treated as a breach of discipine and wi disquaify a student for submission of his/her dissertation. The schedue for submission of dissertation and presentation wi be notified by the Department. The process wi have to be competed preferaby within 10 weeks from the date of competion of the 3rd semester Examination, i.e., we before the commencement of the process of Mid-term review in the 4th semester. The Project Study and Dissertation wi carry a tota of 4 credits. 70% of the tota weight of it wi be assigned to satisfactory competion of the Study as evidenced from the Dissertation and 30% of it on due competion of a formaities and on presentation. Evauation of the submitted Dissertation and the vivavoce (forming a part of the evauation process) wi be conducted by an Expert Committee consisting normay of One Professor of the Schoo, One Associate Professor, Two Externa Experts and the Dean/HOD as Chairperson. 5. Evauation Scheme: The distribution of marks in each of the Compusory and Eective Papers between Sessiona Evauation and End-Semester Examination wi be as foows: I. Sessiona Assessment: Mid-Semester Evauation Eement of Evauation Marks (a) Mid-semester Test (one) 10 (b) Assignment-paper & Viva-Voce (one time in mid-semester) 10 Overa Assessment (to be done by the concerned teacher as per framework to 10 be notified by the Schoo based on Cassroom Attendance [5 marks] and & Participation in case studies/ discussion,seminars, group activities/events and MLQ [5 marks]) Sessiona Assessment: Tota 30 II. IMPORTANT RULES FOR STUDENTS Conduct, Discipine, Attendance and Evauation of students of PG / Integrated courses Each student, with respect to his/her work in the Course as we as his/her genera conduct in the University, sha remain under the contro of the respective Schoo and the Department and sha be guided by the discipinary code of the University. A student must have attended a minimum of 75% of the ectures, seminars, and tutorias organized by the Department during a semester to be eigibe to appear at the end-semester examination. There sha be an end semester examination and aso continuous sessiona evauation for each course of study. Uness otherwise notified by the University / Department, 70% of the tota weightage of marks in each course wi be assigned to end semester examination and 30% wi be reserved for continuous sessiona assessments during the semester. A student sha be required to quaify himsef / hersef in terms of the sessiona assessment criterion to be eigibe for end semester examination in each subject. The marks awarded for sessiona test as moderated and approved by the Departmenta Examination Committee, sha be made known to the students within 10 days of the conduct of the test. Students may discuss and seek carification, if any, about their performance in Sessiona Tests from the Head of the Department, who sha be the ex-officio Chairman of the Departmenta Examination Committee, after the decaration of the test resuts. A student, who does not cear a course, owing to faiure to pass or to appear in sessiona work and/or end-semester examination, wi have to cear the Course in the immediate next opportunity. Under no circumstances wi a student be aowed to carry more than three backog courses to the next opportunity. A student has to get minimum of 40% of sessiona marks in each course to be eigibe for appearing in the end-semester examination. Ordinariy a Post-Graduate student shoud compete a courses during the period of four semesters. However, a student may be aowed to participate in the academic programme up to a maximum of eight semesters. No candidate sha normay be aowed to appear in any course examination more than twice and no candidate sha be aowed to appear in any course examination beyond the permitted number of semesters, stated hereinbefore, counted from his / her first admission to the programme. In order to quaify for the Master s degree, a candidate must have secured at east 4 grade points in each course as per CBCS system. A successfu candidate sha be paced in First Division, if he/she obtains at east 60% marks and sha be paced in Second Division if he/she obtains 50% or more but ess than 60% marks in the aggregate cacuated on the basis of a examinations and sessiona tests pertaining to the course.
