Tennis for Kids 2018 Programme Overview After its success in 2016 and 2017, Tennis for Kids is returning in 2018! How successful has Tennis for Kids been so far? Over 1,200 passionate Coaches have been trained and delivered Tennis for Kids courses to over 35,000 children, introducing them to tennis and helping them fall in love with the sport. A truly amazing achievement! 98% of parents were very positive about their child s experience because of the Coaches enthusiastic, fun and welcoming approach. A whopping 50% of kids signed up for a discounted Club Membership or discounted Coaching Programme! How will the programme evolve in 2018? Our aim continues to be on growing the programme, getting more children into the game and making it sustainable for the future. With demand up to this point outstripping supply, we are making three core changes for 2018. These changes are based on consultations with, and listening to feedback from both parents and coaches. 1. You can now run as many courses as you want, all year round from April 2018 From April 2018, once successfully trained, you can now run as many courses as you want, at any time throughout the year. You will solely need to commit to running a minimum of one course in the summer period. Courses can either be a low cost, high value follow-on offer from any schools activity, GBTW event or promotion; or run per term to continually attract more children to your programme and get more kids into the game. Opening up the number of courses available, will also help reduce or remove waiting lists. 2. Introduction of a charge for participants Whilst in previous years, Tennis for Kids has been free of charge for participants, in 2018 we will be introducing a low cost fee of 25 which equates to just over 4 per week (for the 6 week course). The majority of the fee will go to Coaches or Venues directly, with an opportunity of an increased income compared to previous years, with more flexibility too. A remaining small proportion of the fee ( 5) will go to the LTA in the form of a licence fee, enabling us to: Deliver quality training to coaches Post to each child a bespoke racket and ball set (RRP 25) and a personalised Tennis for Kids t-shirt with their name or initials on Help promote the programme nationally Grow and sustain the programme for the future 3. Developing follow-on content & opportunities for children to stay in the game We will develop a range of follow-on content to help make your lives easier and to grow the numbers of children playing tennis. Like you, we want the onward journey for children and parents to be as simple and easy as possible so linked to the new content, we will invest in and develop a range of ways to help keep children playing tennis for longer, catering to the increased demand of this extremely popular programme. What type of Coach are we looking to get involved? We hope that as many 2016 and 2017 Tennis for Kids Coaches apply to be part of the team again!

If you have missed out so far and want to be a Tennis for Kids Coach now is your opportunity to get involved! We are looking for Britain s best and most enthusiastic Coaches, who are well organised and will deliver sessions for children that are fun and packed with high levels of energy, and clearly demonstrate good coaching skills. You should be: Passionate about tennis and committed to coaching and developing the sport o Have a track record of involvement in tennis as a Player, Volunteer, Leader or Coach o Have proactively developed themselves as a Coach Strong communicators with the ability to enthuse children and engage with parents o Be able to explain why they want to be part of the Tennis for Kids programme o Be a strong communicator and confident using voice and body language Track record of success in supporting delivery of Junior Tennis Coaching sessions o Be able to lead a group of children in a sporting environment o Work as part of a team delivering a successful Mini Tennis programme What are the Coaching requirements needed to apply? In order to be eligible to upload and deliver Tennis for Kids courses, you will need to have the following qualifying criteria (if you do not meet this criteria at the time of uploading your course(s), the system will not allow you to upload your course(s)): Minimum of Level 2 Coaching assistant or equivalent LTA Accredited OR Accredited+ OR have the following criteria in place 1. Public liability and professional indemnity insurance are the types of insurance you need to have. What do Coaches and Venues need to commit to? The follow on offer for the participating child and their family could be: o 50% discount on a Club Membership o 50% discount on Junior Coaching o More information around the follow-on offer will be shared at the training What are the benefits of getting involved? A great development opportunity for Coaches A great way to convert children onto your programmes or join your club Free training day with inspirational Coach Mentors 4 CPD credits British Tennis branded kit Lesson plans and supporting resources to deliver the 6 week course Fee for the course

We will not be asking you to confirm the Venue(s) where you plan to deliver Tennis for Kids courses at the stage you apply but we do recommend that you start the discussion early with your Venue(s) to ensure you are ready to upload courses as soon as you have completed your Training: 1. Explore which Venue(s) you may like to deliver Tennis for Kids courses at and get the Venue(s) approval 2. Discuss with the Venue(s) how many courses you may deliver and when would be suitable alongside your other coaching programmes If you don t have the Coaching requirements yet in place to deliver Tennis for Kids courses in 2018, start to make arrangements to meet the criteria before you upload your course(s). You will need to meet all requirements in order to be able to upload course(s) and deliver your courses. You will have to provide evidence when asked for it Make sure you have appropriate insurance/s You will need access to the LTA Coach Secure Area to submit your application, whether a Tennis for Kids 2016 / 2017 Coach or a new Tennis for Kids Coach o If you don t have a log-in to the LTA Coach Secure Area, you can create one here o You will need to have your Coach Code to hand o If you are unsure of your Coach Code, contact our Services Team at info@lta.org.uk or 0208 487 7000 (Monday to Friday, 0900-1700) If you are new to Tennis for Kids start thinking about your personal statement on why you should be part of the Tennis for Kids programme in 2018.
