INTRODUCTION School Uniform is an important part in the life of a school and at Pilgrim we are proud of our uniform and children are required and expected to wear the uniform when at school. Reasons for wearing school uniform include: It gives a public face to the School in the community It promotes pride in children to be associated with their peers and school It has a safety value in that children are easily identified when outside of school grounds It reduces peer pressure in having to wear the latest fashions or name brand items of clothing It helps solve the what shall I wear dilemmas in the morning It acknowledges the school environment as a type of work place for learning and the items of clothing reflect this The uniform is based on the colours of blue, maroon and grey. All 3 Campus schools have similar uniform requirements, but Pilgrim and Nativity require children to wear uniform whereas Thiele has a dress code based on the Campus colours. Parents are expected to ensure that children are dressed in the correct uniform. Teachers will monitor the wearing of uniforms and follow up with children and parents when necessary. Parent support of our Uniform Policy will allow teachers greater time to focus on learning opportunities for children. The class teacher should be first point of contact by parents with concerns about their child s uniform. For exceptions to the above requirements (eg medical issues), please contact the Principal. Children are required to bring their sport shoes to school on these days and change at school. Sport shoes are not to be worn to and from school with regular uniform. The Principal may be contacted about general policy issues and persisting difficulties. The School Board becomes involved with policy issues rather than individual situations.
