College diploma programs require six senior courses at college (C), university/college (M), or university (U) level. College degrees require six grade 12 U or M courses. Programs also require specific prerequisite courses. Many programs also require additional admission information, such as a portfolio, interview or an audition. Do the research now! www.ontariocolleges.ca or myblueprint.ca. Visit the colleges. Gather guide books (Ask in the Guidance Office). Attend the Lunch time presentations at Lorne Park in the Lecture Hall.

Students require six grade 12 U or M level courses to qualify for general university admission. Specific course prerequisites will vary depending on the university program. Example: ENG4U0 or BOH4M0 All grade 11 and 12 marks are viewed by the universities. Universities will extend conditional offers of admission once they feel they have received sufficient academic information to make a decision. Students should investigate university requirements and grade 12 course prerequisites before selecting grade 11 courses. Research now! Mathematics Pathways

Pre-requisite Grade 10 Pre-requisite Grade 11 Courses Grade 12 Recommended Course SNC2D0 SBI3U0/E SCH 3U0/E SPH3U0/E SVN3M0 SBI4U0/E SCH 4U0 SPH4U0 * SCH3U0 - if planning to take SBI4U0 SNC2P0 SBI3C0 SVN3M0

Enhanced Program * Grade 11 Requirements: Students must select at least one enhanced course. E.g. ENG3UE or MCR3UE Students need a total of 10 courses for the Enhanced Certificate Extended French Program * Grade 11 Requirements: Students must take FEF3U0 and HSP3UX. Students need a total of 7 courses for the Extended French Certificate. * Must already be in the program to select these courses.

Select either 2 or 4 credit co-op, choose course code COP2XC or COP4XC and submit a separate application to the co-op teacher. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Earn up to four credits at a work placement. Authentic experience for all students (College, University, Apprenticeship - Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program or OYAP). Credits can be used for college admission. Dual Credit program

Earn an SHSM red seal designation on your OSSD The SHSM program focuses on a Sports Related Career while earning an OSSD It is a bundle of 9 credits in gr 11 and 12 that include: 4 Sports Major Credits 2 Co-op Credits 3 other courses that include CLA s (such as English, Math, Science, Humanities, Technology) Other features of our Sports SHSM include: Certifications/Training (CPR/First Aid/WHIMIS/Personal training.. ) Experiential learning (job shadowing & 2 or 4 credit co-op) Experience post secondary opportunities (college/university lectures, tours) Supports all Pathways: University, College, Workplace, Apprenticeship If interested in SHSM please see your Guidance Counsellor

Research all of your options carefully. Pay attention to post-secondary program requirements. Attend our Course Selection Fair December 8 th. Talk to teachers who teach the course. Talk to students who have taken the course. Get information regarding workload and the type of projects you will be doing (presentations or group work?). Select courses in which you re likely to experience success. Have a back-up plan.

Course Selection will be done through www.myblueprint.ca A link is on LPSS website and your BYOD account. Access to the on-line Course Selection will be available to students from December 9 at 11:30 until it closes on January 13 at 3:00. Course selection is done on a first come- first served basis.

Click on a Course Box and a drop down menu will give you course options to choose from. Make sure you are selecting the correct course and level as many of the course codes are very similar.

Completing the Course Selection Process Research your option choices. Select your courses through myblueprint. Click on SUBMIT. PRINT your COURSE VERIFICATION form. Have your parents review your courses and sign the form. Return the signed Course Verification form to the homeroom teacher by January 16, 2017.

Changes may be requested anytime before June 1 st. Submit a parent signed Course Change Form to the Guidance Office and we will try to accommodate your request. However there are no guarantees. Changes will be permitted based on course availability. Once the school s timetable is set there are limitations that must be considered. Once a class is full we can only place a student on a waitlist. Do your research now. Put time and effort into selecting the right courses now and you will have the best chance of getting the classes you want.

Students requiring a level change (i.e. ENG2D0 to ENG3C0) are advised to make an appointment with their Guidance Counsellor to review requirements for potential post secondary pathways.

It is recommended that you do not select a course for which you plan to take outside of LPSS. E.g. Summer School
