Grad School and Career Services will be attending the ESU Career Fair on September 14 in the Union. Graduate School will be holding three Graduate School preparation workshops in Memorial Union, Sept 20, Blue Key Room, 12p- 1:30pm, Sept. 27, Veterans Hall of Honor, 12-1:30pm and October 4, Great Plains Room, 3-5pm. Graduate School will be attending Teacher Career Fair, Memorial Union, Webb Hall, Nov. 7, 9-10am. In addition to our on-campus recruiting, we kick off September with a trip to Hays for the Ft. Hays State Career Fair (September 13), Washburn Career Fair (September 13) in Topeka. We round out September in Kansas City, KS for the MKN McNair Heartland Research Conference (September 22). October begins with the KAYEC conference in Manhattan on October 7. Kansas State Department of Education Conference held in Wichita, KS (October 12), Pittsburg State Career Fair, Oct 8. Towards the end of month we travel to the National McNair Research Conference in Illinois (October 20-21), Wichita, KS for the Interhab Conference (October 26). We also plan on having donut drops to several Lyon County school districts: USD 251, USD 252, and USD 253. November begins with the NYAHPERD Conference in Verona, NY, November 15-18. December begins with travel to Ft. Worth, TX for the TAHPERD conference on December 2.

Dr. Grover received a $1,000 award and a plaque, and she was recognized at the Research and Creativity Awards Day on April 27. The Graduate Faculty Mentor Award was established by the Graduate Council in spring, 2015. Nominees must be full-time tenured or tenure-track members of the graduate faculty (regular or associate) for a minimum of three years. The application deadline is November 17, 2017. Applications are available at http://www.emporia.edu/grad/ scholarships-awards/. Each award recipient will receive $400. The Harold Durst Graduate Research Award will be awarded during the fall, 2017 semester. The application deadline is September 29, 2017. Applicants must be completing a thesis/dissertation and must submit a Research Proposal. The recipient will receive up to $1000. The Newbold Scholarship Award will be awarded during the fall, 2017 semester. The application deadline is October 27, 2017. Applicants must provide one page research abstract, with evidence of creative activities and research at the master s degree level. The recipient will receive $300. Spring Commencement The New Graduate Student Scholarship (Spring) will be awarded during the spring 2018 semester. The application deadline is November 17, 2017. Applicants must be enrolled at Emporia State University for the first time beginning spring, 2018 semester. Recipients will receive $500.
