University of San Diego San Diego, California San Diego is on the Southern California Coast of the Pacific Ocean, approximately 120 miles (190 km) south of Los Angeles and immediately adjacent to the border with Mexico. San Diego is the eighth largest city in the United States and second largest in California. It is known for its mild year-round climate, natural deep-water harbor, and extensive beaches. The University of San Diego is a beautiful private university, built in a Spanish Renaissance style, and is situated on 180 acres overlooking San Diego s beautiful Mission Bay. It has been rated as one of the most beautiful campuses in the United States. Campers get the chance to absorb a college environment, since they are staying in the college dorms and dining at the Student Life Pavilion, where campers have access to healthy food from all around the globe. Our Nike Camp programs offer access to: Modern, clean, and comfortable student apartments Lounges on each floor, as well as access to a larger lounge for camp meetings, dances and gatherings. Vending machines and laundry facilities Olympic-sized swimming pool, volleyball, and basketball courts New dining facility offers a wide variety of delicious entrees and choices In addition to our Nike Program which runs for 6 weeks during the summer of 2014, we also offer a combined Language and program in partnership with the English Language Academy at USD. A combined Sport and Language program can run from 4-8 weeks depending on personal goals. The English Language Academy offers a residential Summer Program beginning in mid-june through mid-august. Non-native English speakers who are between the ages of 14 and 17 can practice their language skills in and out of the classroom and have a great time while doing this. In-class includes skill development in reading/writing and listening/speaking. Students can use their new skills as they participate in field trips, sporting activities and social events. These courses are appropriate for those considering attending a US college or university or those who simply wish to travel and improve their English skills.

Each program offers: Highly qualified, experienced professors Small classes of 15 students or fewer State-of-the-art computer technology Pre-testing for accurate class placement Post-testing to highlight improvements Opportunity to prepare for the TOEFEL and IELTS Because this is a multi-week combined language and sport program, ELA and Nike camp staff will oversee camper transition between the two programs. Campers can combine up to three weeks of language classes with one, two or three weeks of a Nike program. Language start dates are June 22, June 29 and July 6 th. (See attached pricing and dates at the end of this document.) Program Dates: June 22- July 25 (3 weeks of Language followed by two weeks of Nike Camp) June 22- August 1 (3 weeks of Language followed by three weeks of Nike Camp) June 29 August 1 (3 weeks of Language followed by two weeks of Nike Camp) June 29-July 25 ( 3 weeks of language followed by one week of Nike Camp Students attending the language program will enjoy 15 hours of language per week. Lessons are integrated with San Diego and Southern California exploration to local attractions, such as Sea World, Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, La Jolla Shore, Pacific Beach and more. During the language program, students will reside with ELA staff on the USD campus. During the Nike Sports Program, camper will stay with Nike Staff on the USD Campus. The Nike Sport Track. This program option is designed to provide light sport and some match play in the afternoon hours for students who want to combine tennis and language in the same day, after language classes. (These students would not participate in the MT, TH, or F afternoon travel activities. (They would participate in all-camp full day off-campus excursion on Wednesday.) Because it is a ½ day program, it is designed to provide stroke and drills for beginning to intermediate players. Advanced players can join the full-day Nike camp in progress in which they will focus on match preparation/play in the afternoon. (All campers must be evaluated.) We recommend advanced players who are looking for a more serious language and tennis program choose the three-week language program, then transition to the full-day Nike Camp when their language is complete.

Nike Camp The Nike Camp at USD is one of the most popular tennis camps in the US. Directed by top teaching pro, Bill Scott and Sherri Stephens (USD Women s Coach) this camp provides the ideal environment to learn from some of the best collegiate coaches and players in the country, and play with peers from all over the world. Camp highlights: 5-6 hours of daily with low camper to staff ratio and 24 hour supervision Afternoon match and tournament play all week Fun off-court evening activities for overnight campers Every camper receives a Nike Camp T-shirt Experience campus life and create lasting friendships The Skip and Cindy Hogan Center, located on the West side of the USD campus, is home to the USD women s and men s tennis teams, recently went through a complete renovation of its eight- court facility at the west end of the USD campus. The facilities are used for the USD summer camps, so that they directly experience the professionalism of a college team! Other Program Benefits: Staff and Campers come from all over the world. It is a great way to learn about other cultures and make great friends from new places. Nike programs are customized to cater to all levels. From beginners to more developed players, everyone has fun and gets better at the sports they love.
