: Employment of Student Spouses CVM 2.9 03/7/ 06/03/85; 0/0/96 CVM Committee on Dean s Office Employment of Student Spouses The college of Veterinary Medicine categorizes potential jobs to be filled into sensitive and nonsensitive positions. Sensitive areas include those areas such as student admissions, faculty and staff evaluations, testing and grading, and certain Dean s Office functions. Student spouses are not considered for sensitive positions for obvious reasons. Student spouses, including veterinary and preveterinary spouses, are now and have always been considered for non-sensitive positions within the for which they apply. Technical, clerical and animal caretaker positions can be filled with qualified candidates who meet the competitive criterion for these jobs. The strives to comply with all aspects of the affirmative action guidelines, but always insist upon the right to exercise reason and judgment in dispensing with the responsibility to manage the organization in an efficient manner. It is for this reason that each student spouse applicant is evaluated on the basis of qualifications and the nature of the job to be filled and not upon social or marital status. Second preference will be given to students enrolled at Mississippi State University who are non-cvm students in a related field, and last preference will be given to all other students. Student workers who have been employed by the College in excess of one calendar year, and have demonstrated dependability and exceptional performance, could be considered for wage increments. b.
