EDITORIAL Connected and linked As the holder of French as a Foreign Language quality label, the Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises (ILCF-Lyon) in Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, obtained recognition from Club UNESCO in April 2015. ILCF-Lyon has long embraced the values of equality, respect, tolerance and mutual intercultural understanding, values which are also promoted by UNESCO. Club UNESCO ILCF-Lyon fulfills the mandate as well as the humanistic commitment of the Catholic University of Lyon. This is based on 30 years of experience in university education and interdisciplinary research carried out in our institute. Furthermore, Club UNESCO is a continuation of current UNESCO Chair activities entitled Collective Memories, Cultures and Interculturalism, which was established in 2007. Likewise, thanks to significant national and international reach and reputation, ILCF promotes involvement in French university life among its 2,000 students from 5 continents representing 70 nationalities, through its student unions. For instance, the International Diplomatic Forum, created by and for students, promotes and organizes UN-style debates and conferences similar to those taking place at the United Nations and which are based on MUN (Model United Nations) competitions. ILCF thus encourages mutual understanding and cooperation by dealing with all forms of otherness through discussions and conferences. Crosscultural exchange events are also organized through numerous outings, being received as guests in Lyonnais host families and being helped by fellow French students in order to integrate culturally as well as linguistically. A cordial welcome is the corner stone of our institute s policy in terms of students academic and personal needs. In 2015, ILCF-Lyon moved into its new Carnot and Saint-Paul Campuses which opened an entirely new chapter in the Institute s history. The 10,000 UCLY students now benefit from 40,000 m² of fully-equipped premises with amenities which meet new requirements and learning methods offering flexible, mobile work spaces and state-of-the-art technology in order to adapt to innovations and all types of learning processes. Connected and linked: the new digital facilitators are tools designed to generate and manage interaction as well as meeting others, while respecting their uniqueness. The bonds established among the student community display the ability to associate, interact, communicate with, build together, share and have an effect on the present. To be a student at ILCF-Lyon means being available to others, living together in a fraternal community and thereby contributing to the advancement of peace thanks to an intercultural and interreligious dialogue. Citizens of the world, welcome!
