In addition, their human capital (i.e. English proficiency, educational attainment, and employment history) may influence their participation in this sector. Furthermore, the families of these workers must employed specialized survival strategies to live on lowwages and uncertain employment conditions in New Mexico. By comparing employment offered by temporary employment agencies (Albuquerque) and those obtain by day laborers (Santa Fe), this study aims to analyze how local labor markets influence the increasing demand for short-term and sub-contract employment and its impact on immigrant Latino workers and their families. Further, this research examines the impact of receiving policies, including the issues of driver s licenses, access to preventive medical care, and bilingual education. The sample includes 28 immigrant workers, 11 families, and eight stakeholders. 1
