Summer-2015 Training Program, CCMB Dear Summer Trainee, I congratulate you for your selection in our Trainee Program Summer-2015. CCMB is one of the best-equipped institutions in the country involved in basic/applied molecular biology research. We hope that your stay at CCMB would be beneficial and memorable to you. We make lots of efforts to run this program wherein our main intention is to provide you a real time opportunity to spend your time in an active research lab. You may go through the following notes carefully. As a trainee you are expected to spend a minimum of 60-days to receive the participation certificate. You would be assigned to a staff scientist of CCMB who would supervise/mentor you during your stay. It may be noted that a committee assign the students to different research groups, and although your statement of purpose is considered, allotments are mainly based on the availability of working place(s) in different labs. Hence, you should be ready to work in any lab in CCMB (please do not enquire about the allotments to specific scientists/labs in CCMB). At the end of your stay you are required to submit: 1) a brief work report (~10-15 pages); 2) feedback about your stay, and also 3) make a brief presentation of the work conducted (optional as per the advice of the Mentoring scientist). CCMB has good canteen facilities to take care of most of your food needs. In addition, there are plenty of eating places in the near vicinity. Therefore, we expect that food will not be a problem. We have more than 250 students/project assistants/post-docs etc. on campus, who make a very lively and energetic environ No financial support is provided to the candidates and each of you is expected to support your stay. CCMB has very limited hostel accommodation and that is meant only for regular PhD students. Therefore, the selected students are expected to make their own arrangements for stay in Hyderabad. However, we consider few requests for shared accommodation from the out-station girl students and/or extremely needy candidates who do not have means to arrange accommodation on their own. Accordingly, if you need accommodation, then you are advised to make a separate request at the earliest, giving the reasons. All such requests will be considered for accommodation in CCMB housing facility on sharing basis, which usually comprises sharing by 4-6 students in 2-bed room staff quarters (and each student is provided with a cot and a mattress) depending upon availability.
Please bring original document(s) of admission in B.Tech. or M.Sc. program for verification. You should join between 10 th -15 th May and not before 10 th May [in case, you needs to postpone the joining by few days for unavoidable reasons, the same MUST be informed to CCMB at the earliest]. Such requests for change in joining time will be considered and decision would be informed individually by mail/post at the earliest possible; but it may be noted that under no circumstances, joining can be delayed beyond 25 th May). CCMB is easy to reach from the railway stations. Secunderabad station is one main railway station and is ~6 km from CCMB. The other three stations are Nampally (Hyderabad), Kachiguda and Begumpet (each ~ 8-10 km from CCMB). The CCMB is located between "Habsiguda - Tarnaka" on the Secunderabad -Uppal main road. Autorikshaws and taxis at metered rates are available at the stations. To reach CCMB you must tell the autorikshaw drivers to take you to Habsiguda cross roads, which is about 100 yards from CCMB entrance that comes to your left after you cross IICT (Indian Institute of Chemical Technology) and easy to locate. Once you are at CCMB, inform the CCMB security that you are a summer trainee, and check at the reception for further details. Hyderabad is warm to hot during the months of May -July, so please plan accordingly. With Best wishes Sincerely, Ramesh K.
