ON-CAMPUS RECRUITING Information sessions, information tables, classroom presentations and face-to-face interaction with students are wonderful and effective ways to market your organization with students and faculty. Our office will schedule the room, tables and reach out to faculty on your behalf. Be sure to schedule these opportunities early in order for us to help market the opportunity and maximize student participation. ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWS Interviewing students on campus is a great way to conduct initial interviews with students. It allows you to learn more about UMKC and provides the student with an ease of being in a familiar place. We encourage employers to schedule these early with at least a six-week timeline. There are a few different options of interview formats: Room Reservation Only: We provide the room only, and employers coordinate scheduling on their own. This is typically seen directly following a career fair with students that the employer just met. Preselect: This is the most traditional and popular form of interviews. We will develop a timeline and schedule in which students apply for the position(s). Once the position has closed, you will select the candidates you are interested in interviewing, and the selected candidates will select the interview time slot that works best for their schedule. Preselect to Alternate: This is similar to the Preselect option but if your slots are not filled by your selected candidates, then you can select alternates to fill those slots. Preselect to Open-Again: This is similar to the second and third option but if your slots aren t filled, any student can sign up for an interview time. Open: A room is reserved for you and students will still apply, but upon applying they can sign up for an interview time without invitation from the employer. RECRUITING EVENTS AND NEXT-DAY INTERVIEWS Career Services hosts a variety of events throughout the academic year. These events allow employers to interact with students and faculty from many different degree programs. You can register for the events through Roo Career Network. Following the fall Career Fest, space for next-day interviews will be available for you to interview any potential candidates. Space is limited and requests are met on a first-come, first-serve basis and scheduled through your registration for the Career Fest.
