Centre for International Programmes Hyderabad, Telangana State Two Day National Seminar on Media, Politics and Higher Education Call for Papers Higher education is a crucial segment in every country. Each and every student has a quintessential role to play in the growth of the nation. In fact they are the building blocks of the nation. The Greek philosophers believed that a successful nation needs a holistic approach to education. The growth of the nation depends on the quality of higher education a country could provide. Two important factors which play a significant role in the world of education are media and politics. A variety of initiatives have been undertaken by the government of our country to improve the quality of higher education. Media and politics have been influencing the course of higher education in innumerable ways. One could say that our country is embroiled immensely in the intricacies of media and politics. Undoubtedly these elements proved to be predominant forces in the making of the New India. The introduction of media education has brought remarkable changes in the level of reception from the students. Especially, digitization of universities reduced both time and space in research. Multimedia and ICT proved to be effective tools in the world of education. Politics on the other hand has become a key factor in maintaining the quality of education. It s a proven fact that the political decisions decide the fate of any nation. In the recent days, politics have dominated the academia in our country. It s over indulgence may also be disruptive at times and eventually lead to decadence. The politics of today influences the prospects of the entire nation, and hence there is a need for restoration and deliberation. The political climate in the higher education has been unstable in the recent past. Many untoward incidents have been witnessed in the academic corridors and media has played its role in bringing it to light. However the academia needs a strong support from media and politics to sustain its goals and establish itself as a hub of knowledge. The seminar Media, Politics and Higher Education will have scholarly papers on the above topic. We invite papers from students, research scholars, academicians, teachers, journalists and politicians on the topic. It is housed in the building complex of the ASRC and has inherited its academic and infrastructural strengths. However, OUCIP has broadened its scope and added new fields of study from humanities and social studies to American Studies.
