PATH TO GRADUATION 2 YEARS 2 YEARS Name: Young Jae Hwang Country: South Korea Transfer University: University of Michigan Major: Engineering The beauty of attending Snow College was the amazing outdoor program provided. The Center for Global Engagement offers opportunities for the international students to travel to the best national parks in the world. I traveled to Zion s National Park, Bryce Canyon, Arches, as well as the Grand Canyon. I am now a student at the University of Michigan and will remember these opportunities the rest of my life. Name: Collins Kabaira Country: Zimbabwe Transfer University: The University of Utah Major: Chemical Engineering My time as a student at Snow College provided many opportunities. After graduating I received a scholarship to attend the University of Utah where I serve in student government. There are few places that have the same love, patience and integrity as Snow College. The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) will be your family away from home. They assist you with maintaining status, getting a driver license, and any other questions. The success that I have had, and will have in the United States is a direct result of the support I was shown at Snow.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE Students may attend Snow College with a TOEFL test score or take the English placement test upon arrival. With conditional admissions available, students study English writing, reading, listening, and conversation before entering regular academic courses. Belonging to the Associate of American Intensive English Programs (AAIEP), and offering English as a Second Language (ESL) for over 35 years, Snow offers four levels of ESL. Each level takes 8 weeks to complete. A student begins in Level 1 and can earn their ESL certificate and be in regular classes after two semesters. If they enter as Level 3 students they can finish ESL classes in one semester. Once students pass the ESL courses they can register for regular academic courses. Keeping class sizes small (at an average of 12 students per class), students receive personal attention. Students attend class five days per week, with four or five classes per day. Classes offered: Listening, Reading, Composition, Grammar, Conversation, American Culture and Values, TOEFL Preparation, Literature, and American History. Level 3 and Level 4 classes count as electives toward graduation. 12 ESL PROGRAM

LEARNING LIFE s LESSONS THROUGH MUSIC

Say hello to MOE! Moe Morita is a classically trained pianist who comes to Snow College from Japan. She is studying English and Music with Snow College s Music Department. She is a member of the Accapella Choir, Commercial Music Ensemble and a successful soloist. I have had the chance to perform in front of many different people, not only as a soloist but I have also accompanied many performers. As a classically trained pianist, the best part of being in the music program is the chance to learn all types of music like jazz and pop. My favorite eperience has been the Annual Rock Concert; we perform songs by ABBA, Queen and other legendary bands. Japan is my home country but I like to say that Snow College is my second home! 15 STUDENT HIGHLIGHT

MEET Souleymane Gueye! Souleymane is originally from Dakar, Senegal and had the opportunity to attend High School in Japan. There were many universities interested in having Souleymane join their athletic program, but he chose to attend Snow College. I wanted to find a college that would help me reach both my academic and athletic goals. I am able to improve my skills as an athlete, learn English, and become prepared for a career in business administration. Combining the small class sizes, the completion of English as a Second Language (ESL), and impressive athletic program; Souleymane will be prepared to transfer to a major university after Snow College. The students and the community here at Snow are so supportive. It is a great opportunity to represent such a great college. Go Badgers! 21 STUDENT HIGHLIGHT
