MAURITIUS INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION Research Assistant (On Contract Basis): Mobile Application Developer Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to work as Research Assistant on a contract basis as Mobile Application Developer at the MIE for a period of one year as from January 2018. Qualification: A relevant Honours Degree in the field of Information Technology or an acceptable alternative qualification Experience: A minimum experience of two years in the field. Candidates must produce written evidence of any experience claimed. Candidates should: Duties: Be well versed with mobile technology such as building apps for Google s Android and Apple s IOS; Have a sound knowledge of the programming languages and software development environment for their chosen platform (e.g., Java for Android, Objective-C for IOS); Demonstrate flexibility with new and emerging technology; Possess excellent communication skills, time management, organizational skills and ability to work in a team; and Be available immediately to start the research work. The Research Assistant is expected to carry out the following duties: Propose mobile development solutions based on MIE s requirements; Develop application programming interfaces to support mobile functionality; Demonstrate flexibility towards best practices for coding mobile apps; Use and adapt existing web applications for apps;

Develop a technical user manual conform to the requirements of the MIE; Work closely with colleagues to constantly innovate app functionality and design; To make use of Information Technology in the performance of his/her duties, whenever required; and To perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Research Assistant in the roles ascribed to him/her. All travelling expenses (to attend official duties only) will be refunded at bus rate.

Qualification: A relevant Honours Degree in the field of Information Technology or an acceptable alternative qualification. Minimum Experience: A minimum experience of two years in the field. Candidates must produce written evidence of any experience claimed. Candidates should: Duties: Be well versed with digital content fundamentals in IT; Have an advanced knowledge of the current and emerging Internet Technologies; Have a good grasp of widely used programming languages (such as HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP and Flash); Have experience with editors such as Dreamweaver, Creative Suite and image manipulation software such as Adobe Photoshop; Possess excellent communication skills, time management, organizational skills and ability to work in a teamwork; and Be available immediately to start the research work. The Research Assistant is expected to carry out the following duties: Working on the design of a responsive website/webpage;

Constructing the website/webpage, including layout, text, adding video, image and graphics and command buttons and creating interactive functions; Developing a technical user manual conform to the requirements of MIE; Work closely with colleagues to constantly innovate website functionality and design; To make use of Information Technology in the performance of his/her duties, whenever required; and To perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Research assistant in the roles ascribed to him/her. All travelling expenses (to attend official duties only) will be refunded at bus rate.

Qualifications: A relevant Degree in the field of Education; and Experience in the teaching of mathematics at pre-primary level would be advantage. Candidates must produce written evidence of any experience claimed. Candidates should: Duties: Be well versed in the teaching of mathematics; Possess excellent communication skills, time management, organisational skills and ability to work in a team; Display high professional ethics; and Be available immediately to start the research work. The Research Assistant is expected to carry out the following duties: Use and adapt interactive mathematics resources; Work closely and collaboratively with web designer and mobile application developer; Design research-based interactive mathematics resources; Support and document implementation of mathematics resources and good practices in selected schools; Work with programs such as PowerPoint, Dropbox, and any other related software relevant to the project; To make use of Information Technology in the performance of his/her duties, whenever required; and
