APRIL 15, 2018 "While they were still speaking about this, he stood in their midst and said to them, Peace be with you. But they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a ghost. Then he said to them, Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have. And as he said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed, he asked them, Have you anything here to eat? They gave him a piece of baked fish; he took it and ate it in front of them." Luke 24 Dear Parishioners and Friends, Plans are well underway for our 64th Annual Fiesta! A special thanks to our dedicated leadership team and all of our sponsors for their planning and support. This huge parish and community event is remarkable in its size and witness to our parish community coming together with so many generous volunteers. The month of June is significant for me as well as I will be celebrating my 25 th anniversary of my ordination and giving thanks to our Lord for 25 years of priesthood. I am blessed to be a priest of the Rochester Diocese and to have had the blessings of supportive parents and family and to have known so many wonderful parishioners, fellow priests, and the kind shepherding of my ordaining Emeritus Bishop Clark and Bishop Matano. We all have the responsibility to encourage vocations to the priesthood. Vocations do not drop down from heaven. They come from families like your own. We adults have to encourage, and challenge our young people to think bigger. A wonderful opportunity to explore the possibility of priesthood is being organized by Fr. Justin Miller, one of our fine younger priests. Consider the Priesthood ~ Good Shepherd Sunday Young men grades 8 & up are invited to attend a special gathering on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 12:15 to 2:15pm at the Church of the Holy Spirit's Parish Hall (1355 Hatch Rd, Webster) An amazing lunch will be served Listen to inspiring testimonies Have a chance to meet young, fun priests Powerful prayer Fun and games galore Free books, prayer aids will be available To Register/ask questions via Fr. For more information contact the Cathedral Office at 585-254-3221. ST. RITA SCHOOL Spirit of Learning Corner Here s What s Happening... + On Wednesday and Thursday students in Third through Fifth Grades took the New York State ELA Test. It now allows the students to take as much time as needed on the test, which helps them relax without the added stress of being timed. + On Wednesday the school day concluded with a beautiful monthly liturgy led by Mrs. Bansbach s Third Grade class. Due to State Tests in the morning, our Mass was held in the afternoon. What a wonderful way to end a day of testing and acclimating oneself after Spring Break. It was equally as beautiful. + On Friday Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten students had their pictures taken in a cap and gown to celebrate their year of learning. Our youngest God Drops looked precious decked out in this special attire. + Saturday was a very busy day for St. Rita School s students and families. From 10:00am to 4:00pm Community Arts Day was taking place at Schroeder High School. Some of our students had their artistic works displayed at this event. The Junior Lego League competition took place at McQuaid from 9:00am to Noon where our Kindergarten through Third Grade participants displayed their Lego Designs based on the theme Aqua Adventures. On Saturday evening it was the parents turn to celebrate our St. Rita School community at the Blue and Gold Shindig. This adult only event ran from 6:30-10:30pm at Glendoveers. It was a wonderful time to be together and a special fundraising event that was enjoyed by all who attended. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * What is ChristLife? The ChristLife process is a proven method of igniting new evangelization and creating a culture of sharing God s love in our parish. ChristLife provides an amazing opportunity for parishioners and guests to encounter Jesus and to grow in relationship with Him. ChristLife has already been conducted in many parishes throughout the Rochester Diocese and will come to St. Rita Parish in 2018-2019. Watch for more information in the coming weeks!
