Q&A with AMRAN AMRAN answers questions about his life, experiences, and good memories Which words describe your personality? Easygoing, logical thinker, very personable. Describe your strong sides: I like to keep my personal areas obsessively clean. I am not shy in front of large groups, nor am I afraid to try something new. I like to be well-rounded, and to be sort of a jack of all trades. Describe your weak sides: I don t like to devote most of time into one particular subject (I definitely do not have an addictive personality). I can be a little bit of a procrastinator. Describe the best holiday you have had: My immediate family moved to the United States alone, so I didn t really have family nearby to visit. One December, my family and I flew to the Dominican Republic, to reunite the extended family for Christmas. It was really amazing to see old familiar faces, and to meet new ones. What do you like the most about your own country: As an American citizen, I find what I like most is the possibility to reach your goals and dreams. The U.S. has millions of opportunities just waiting to be explored, and the individual who is willing to take a risk will be rewarded. What is your marital status? In a relationship. Do you have any children? No. Which types of sport do you play or have played? Baseball and basketball. Which other types of sports are you interested in? All sports! List any other hobbies you may have or have had: Bowling, poker, blackjack, movies, dancing. List which musical instruments you play or have played: Trombone. Religion: Raised Catholic, now non-religious. How many hours of sleep do you get on an average night? 6-7. Do you eat healthy? I try. Do you smoke? No. Do you ride a bicycle? Often. How much alcohol do you drink on average per week? 1-2 drinks every couple of weeks. Which countries have you visited: Canada, Dominican Republic, United States.

Q&A with AMRAN - continued AMRAN s dreams, favorites and experiences Who are your idols/heroes/heroines? My mother is the sole individual who I idolize. Knowing what my immigrant mother has sacrificed for my siblings and me, just to provide us with the opportunity to grow up in a country where dreams come true, really stays with me. Every decision I make, every step I take, I always think whether it s important enough for me to do. Any sacrifice I make, will always provide a better future. What are your goals in life? My life goal is to one day have a family of my own, that is supportive and always striving for greatness. My career goal would be to be a pilot or go into outer space one day. What were your childhood dreams: As I child, I always wanted to be a pilot. My love of flying has inspired me to take the career route of becoming an Aerospace Engineer. Greatest sorrow: Luckily I have not had a moment of extreme sorrow, but I am fearful for the day when my parents pass away. Both still alive and well. What is your favorite color? Purple, because it is of a mix of blue, which reminds me of a cool state of mind, and red, representing a burning will to achieve. What is your favorite animal? Eagle, it represents grace, flight, and honor. What is your favorite kind of food? Caribbean food. It s the kind of food I grew up with. What is your favorite kind of music: A variety of rock, hip-hop, country, classical and Latin. Which values do you rank the highest? Honesty, trust and respect. Which childhood experience made the biggest impression on you? Moving out of the Dominican Republic to move to the United States. My mother, my siblings and I had to leave friends and family for the opportunity to grow up in a great nation. It has helped me appreciate the great things life has to offer. Which was your greatest experience or moment? Knowing that I will become a future engineer. Happiest: Spending time with the woman I plan to marry. Funniest: Christmas with family. Scariest: Finding out that about my father was in a coma. Proudest: I believe that the proudest moment I will experience is in the future, when I become a father. Most dangerous: Being in a plane that was experiencing equipment trouble. What is your favorite kind of car: Ferrari. This car represents future financial goals. What is your favorite kind of pet: Dogs, because they are loyal and like to have fun. What is your favorite time of year: Autumn. What is your favorite book and/or author: The sci-fi novel The Martian. What is your favorite movie and/or director: The Longest Yard.
