ITI, Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand [Advt.No.5/2016; Date: 21/02/2016] Special Recruitment Drive for PWD [Professor (English) & Assistant Librarian] National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand is one among 31 NITs established by the Government of India by an Act of the Parliament. Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the post of Professor (English) and Assistant Librarian from PWD category possessing excellent academic background. Interested candidates may apply in prescribed application form, which may be downloaded along with details of posts, qualifications, experience and general conditions from the Institute website i.e. www.nituk.ac.in. The complete application must reach NIT Uttarakhand on or before 16 th March, 2016. 1. Number of posts and discipline-wise distribution: S. The essential/desirable qualifications and experience / age criteria for the above post(s) are as under: Essential Qualification: Ph.D. Experience: 10 years after Ph.D. or 13 years total (not counting Ph.D. enrolment period) out of which 07 years are to be after Ph.D.; At least three years to be at Associate Professor level in an institution of repute. 01. Professor (English) Other essential requirements: Two Ph.D. degrees guided in Career as sole or principal supervisor. The following during the past 04 years; (i) 03 papers in SCI journals; (ii) One High value sponsored or consultancy project; (iii) Academic outreach activity equivalent to two self-financed courses offered as coordinator and main teacher; (iv) Two experiments or computational design projects with added to teaching laboratories where appropriate. Additional desirable requirements: One or more Patents; Supervised more than three students for Ph.D.; Preparing E-Learning material. At least one self-financed short-term courses offered every year. 02. Assistant Librarian Essential Qualification: (i) Master s Degree in Library Science/Information Science/Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree with CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale or at least 60% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and a consistently good academic record with superior knowledge of computerized library service. (ii) Qualifying in the national level test conducted for the purpose by the UGC or any other agency approved by the UGC. (iii) However, candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET / SLET / SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Librarian. Desirable PG Diploma in Library Automation and Networking or PGDCA or equivalent. Age Limit: PWDOpen (45 years), PWDOBC (48 years) & PWDSC/ST (50 years) 3. Other essential conditions for Professor (English): a) First Class in MA (English Literature/English Language Teaching/Linguistic) b) If University does not award class then marks awarded should be more than 60% c) In case University awards grades in place of marks then CPI should be more than 6.75 in the scale of 10, if class is not awarded d) Specialization: MA in English Literature/ English Language Teaching/Linguistic 3.1 Overall requirement for Professor (English): A single individual is not expected to meet all essential performance criteria mentioned in essential and desirable qualification and experience, but in the judgment of the selection committee the sum total of his / her contribution and scholastics taken together should exceed the sum total of the essential requirements. The selection committee shall consider publications in journals of reasonable standing, ignoring publications in very week journals. Professional judgment of expert in this matter shall not be questioned. A publication shall normally mean publication which is covered by the SCI wherever applicable. Papers accepted for publication and actually published will be seen to be at par. 3.2 Conditions for candidates from Organizations other than Educational Institutes like Industries for the post of Professor (English): Candidates who do not have experience in Educational Institutes in past 5 years or more, their overall professional work will be valued by selection committee as equivalent to essential / desirable qualification on. This will also be applicable to candidates whose experience in past 5 years is in Institutions which do not offer PG or Doctoral Programme. 3.3 Presentation for Professor (English): All the candidates appearing for Personal Interview will have to make a presentation for 2 minutes about himself/herself followed by a 5 minute presentation on a topic relevant to the post applied. Candidate can select the topic of his/her own choice and is expected to come prepared for presentation. Facilities like LCD projector, Writing Board shall be provided. The presentation shall preferably be on the best research work done by the candidate himself/herself. 4. Selection Procedure: 4.1 All applications shall be scrutinized and incomplete applications will be rejected. 4.2 Screening of candidates will be done on the basis of age, qualification and experience only. 4.3 The Institute reserves the right to place a reasonable limit on the total number of candidates to be called for Interview. Mere fulfillment of qualification per se does not entitle a candidate to be called for Interview. Preference will be given to those who possess desirable qualification, relevant experience in Centrally Funded Educational Institute like IITs, NITs etc. 4.4 Shortlisted candidates shall be called for Written Test/Personal Interview by email. List of the shortlisted candidates will be available on Institute website i.e. www.nituk.ac.in. 4.5 The written examination for Assistant Librarian shall be conducted for one hour and the examination shall be based on NET/SET Syllabus. Only those candidates who score minimum 40% marks in the Written Test shall be qualified to appear for Personal Interview. 4.6 Candidates shortlisted for the post of Professor (English) shall appear for Personal Interview without Written Test. 4.7 The tentative date of Written Test/Personal Interview shall be 11/04/2016 for Assistant Librarian and 17/04/2016 for Professor (English). Final schedule of Written Test/Personal Interview will be displayed on the Institute website. The schedule shall also be mentioned in the Written Test/Personal Interview call letter. 4.8 Candidates are advised to bring Photo ID Card (Driving License, Voters Card, PAN Card, Passport, Aadhaar Card, Bank Pass Book with Photo). Candidates are further advised to bring all the original documents for verification. 4.9 Candidates should report at least 2 hours before scheduled time for Written Test/Personal Interview, for verification of documents. HOW TO APPLY 1. Candidates willing to apply are requested to download Application Form from the Institute website i.e. www.nituk.ac.in. 2. Candidates shall complete the form in all respects without leaving any mandatory column blank. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Please enter dash if the information sought is not applicable. No appeal will be considered to correct the information given in application form. Any document submitted separately/subsequently shall not be considered. 3. Candidates should submit self-attested photocopies of certificates and documents mentioned below in the same sequence. No additional documents / certificates should be attached. Applications without copies of appropriate certificates/documents shall be rejected. a. Proof of Date of Birth (High school certificate/birth certificate/leaving certificate). In the absence of certificate, application will be summarily rejected. b. Category Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates only) issued by competent authority, if not attached, application will be considered in OPEN-PWD category provided candidate fulfills the age and shortlisting criteria for open category. Non-creamy Layer Certificate (for OBC candidates only) is based on parents income. Candidates are required to submit OBC certificates along with non-creamy layer certificate valid on 16 th March, 2016. However, in the absence of necessary certificates proving category, guidelines issued by Government of India will be followed. c. For Persons with Disability, Certificate from Competent Authority only will be considered. If no certificate is attached, application will NOT be considered. d. Mark Sheets of SSC (X) & HSSC (X+II) must be attached. Final Year Mark sheets/grade Cards and Degree Certificates for the Examinations mentioned in the Application Form in the same sequence. Only a grade card/mark sheet will not be treated as proof of eligibility of the Degree/Diploma, unless it specifically and unconditionally indicates that the student is eligible for award of degree. e. Rank Certificates (if any). f. NET/SET/GATE qualifying certificates. g. List of publications as per the categories of publication duly signed by candidate. h. Details of Research Projects/Consultancy Projects/Short Term Courses Conducted/Experimental (Computational) Projects introduced in Laboratory/Courses Taught/Patents mentioned in the application (not more than 5 pages and each page signed by candidate) for Professor-English only. i. Photocopies of two publications which are most important in candidate s opinion (For Professor-English only). j. Experience Certificate from employer (any experience claimed without certificate will not be counted). Any claim of any kind of experience (research/administration/teaching which is not obvious by designation) shall not be considered unless supported by the documents/certificate issued by the competent authority. When experience at specific Grade Pay/Pay scale is mentioned and the experience certificate doesn t indicate the pay, separate certificate indicating the Grade Pay/Pay scale from competent authority is to be submitted for counting the experience. k. Any other information which the candidate desires to provide (one page only, duly signed). 8. All photocopies and documents including covering letter should be enclosed with application form. Application form must be on front page. All photocopies, documents should be in A4 size. Please do not submit your application in any file, neither use any cover sheet or binding strips etc. Simply tie all the pages by stapler / lace. 9. OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1. Preference will be given to SC/ST/OBC, if such candidates are available. Candidature of the PWD candidate shall be considered only if the disability of the candidate is permissible for the post to which the candidate is applicant. 2. Category Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates only) issued by competent authority, if not attached, application will be considered in OPEN-PWD category provided candidate fulfills the age and shortlisting criteria for open category. Non-creamy Layer Certificate (for OBC candidates only) is based on parents income. Candidates are required to submit OBC certificates along with non-creamy layer certificate valid on 16 th March, 2016. However, in the absence of necessary certificates proving category, guidelines issued by Government of India will be followed. 3. Persons serving in Govt./Semi-Govt./PSUs should send their applications either through proper channel or furnish a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE (issued by the competent authority) with application or submit No Objection Certificate (issued by the competent authority) during document verification at the Institute before Written Test/Personal Interview (whichever is earlier). Without the No Objection Certificate (issued by the competent authority), candidature shall be cancelled at the time of document verification. Candidates can send the advance copy of application duly complete in all respects, if applied through proper channel. However, their candidature shall be considered only if copy through proper channel is received by the Institute before document verification. 4. Higher initial basic pay may be given to the exceptionally qualified and deserving candidate(s), if recommended by the Staff Selection Committee. 5. The Institute reserves the right not to fill up the posts, cancel the advertisement in whole or in part, without assigning any reason and its decision in this regard shall be final. 7. The Written Test/Personal Interview shall be conducted at National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand. 8. TA/DA will be paid for attending the Written Test/ Personal Interview as per Govt. of India norms amended from time to time. 9. Incomplete applications or applications without relevant supporting enclosures or applications not in prescribed form will be outrightly rejected. The Institute will not be responsible for any postal delay. Interim correspondence will not be entertained or replied to. 10. All related certificates, in original, proving the eligibility are mandatory to be produced during document verification. Without original certificates proving eligibility, candidature shall be outrightly rejected at the time of document verification. 11.
