Who is eligible? UCTE Post-secondary Memorial Scholarship Application Package Children/grandchildren or dependent children/grandchildren of UCTE members in good standing, retired and/or deceased; and/or children or dependent children of UCTE National Office staff; and are leaving high school and entering their FIRST YEAR of university, college, or institute of higher learning on a full-time basis. REQUIREMENTS: A standing of 70% or greater in subjects required for entrance to university, college, or a recognized institute of higher learning. Proof of registration in a full-time program at a university, college or recognized institute of higher learning the student will be attending. A 250-word essay on one of the following topics: a. Why I believe the work that my mother or father does is important to Canadians. b. What I foresee as the role of organized labour in the future. NOTES: The UCTE National Executive reserves the right to withhold granting of an award if no applicant is deemed to possess the necessary requirements or for other valid reasons. Application checklist: ALL DOCUMENTATION MUST BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR APPLICATION OR IT WILL BE CONSIDERED INCOMPLETE. A completed application including contact information A photograph of the applicant for UCTE s use in its publications to announce scholarship recipients; A full copy of your secondary school transcript, including the final record for the past year; Short statements from two (2) teachers with whom you have worked with during the past year, detailing their general evaluation of your work, your abilities, character and performance in his/her class or classes. (Academic statement forms attached); Estimated budget for upcoming scholastic year; Statement pertaining to your post-secondary program and career plans (form attached); A 250-word essay (essay topics included in the package); Proof of registration in a full-time program at a post-secondary institution. If applying for the scholarship based on financial need, please also ensure the following is completed: Statement of parent s income (only if the application is for financial reasons).
