SA Sprint Championships - Saturday 9 April 2011 Venue: Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town Registration: from 07:30 Starts: 08:30-09:30 Courses close: 10:30 Directions from the airport and N1/N2 freeways Parking at the old silos, at clock tower precinct (town side of Waterfront). Cost: R10 (depending on when you arrive). Follow the N1/N2 highway into town following Waterfront signs, and turn right at the Waterfront signs (first traffic lights as you enter town at the end of the freeway). At the traffic circle turn right (following the clock tower signs). After 50 m turn left and then right into the parking area at the old concrete silos. You may have to pay R10 on entry for parking, depending on how late you arrive. O signs will be placed at the circle and parking entrance. Please note: Sprint control description will be on the map only, no loose control descriptions will be provided. Western Cape Middle Distance - Saturday 9 April 2011 Venue: Grabouw State Forest Registration: from 13:30 Starts: 14:00-15:30 Courses close: 17:00 Please note that at least 1.5 hours should be allowed to drive from the Sprint venue in Cape Town to the Middle Distance venue at Grabouw. Directions from Cape Town Proceed from the Waterfront onto the N1/N2 elevated freeway. Follow the N2 (keep right else you will end up on the N1!) towards the airport and Somerset West. Follow the airport signs and continue on the N2 past the airport to Somerset West and Strand, over Sir Lowry s Pass towards Grabouw. At the second major junction after Sir Lowry s Pass turn left into Grabouw town (signposted R321 Grabouw, Villiersdorp). Follow this road down the main street of Grabouw for exactly 2 km. At the second 3 way stop at the taxi rank, turn left into Worcester Street (if you cross the river bridge you have gone too far). Drive on Worcester Street for exactly 1 km, and turn right onto diagonal road (signposted Elgin Grabouw Country Club). Cross the railway and immediately turn left. Take care as there are several trains a day on this railway line! Follow this road for 1.4 km until there is a boom directly ahead (the country club entrance is on your right). Proceed through the boom and tell the gate guard you are going to the orienteering. Follow O signs for 3 km along the gravel roads to the start. Please drive slowly and carefully on the gravel road and keep an eye out for mountain bikers, there are many of them here. Please park along the gravel road at the start and avoid blocking it.

Directions from the Middle Distance Return the way you came until you reach Grabouw town at the taxi rank. At the main road turn left, drive over the river bridge and up the hill until you reach the N2 (you will be diagonally opposite Peregrine Farmstall marked on the map below). Turn left onto the N2 and follow the map below from Peregrin Farm Stall onwards.
Western Cape Classic Distance - Sunday 10 April 2011 Venue: Grabouw State Forest Registration: from 08:00 Starts: 08:30-10:00 Courses close: 12:30 Prize giving: 13:00 Directions from Oaklane and the east 1. From Oaklane drive back to the N2. 2. Turn left onto the N2 (zero your odometer now), back towards Cape Town and drive back past Grabouw towards Sir Lowry s Pass for 10.1 km. You will pass Peregrine farm stall on your left and the two main Grabouw turnoffs on your right. 3. Turn right at the North Pineview / Rockview Dam turnoff, which is just after the township you drive past on your right. 4. After 1.2 km turn left onto an un-signposted tar road, which will take you into the forest. This is the old N2. The start is along this road please look for O signs. Newcomers: Beginners, novices and children are encouraged to take part in this event. There will be suitable courses available, and the fact that there are championship courses should not discourage anybody wanting to try the sport. We recommend that you bring along a whistle, cell phone, hat, sunscreen, raincoat/space blanket and personal medication (if required). Cost for each event is R30.
