Culture and Media Education: An International Survey Conference 15-17 July 2010 Ludwigsburg University of Education
Culture and Media Education: An International Survey The conference aims to take a look at various countries and to analyse the local situation of culture and media education there. Which concepts, programs, projects, institutions and professional training possibilities exist there? It is not the main objective to provide a geographical overview, but to exchange knowledge and ideas. The emphasis is placed on cultural education and media education outside the school curriculum. What are the main concepts for culture and media education in different countries? Who are the promoters of culture and media education? Which institutions are active in the sector? Who are their target groups? Are there public bodies that deal with culture and media education? Which training possibilities are currently being offered? What importance is attached to culture and media education in society? How is non-school education presented in international films? In Germany, culture and media education takes place in many different forms and places: in youth centres, cultural centres, music and art schools, in media projects, museums and theatres. One aim of this non-school education is to mediate knowledge of culture and media. In addition, it provides the opportunity to positively influence the personal development of the participants. The conference offers a platform for international discussions and exchanging ideas. In various workshops, models for the future will be discussed and potentials of a correlation between culture and media will be considered. Conference languages are German and English (no translation of German presentations). Participants with an academic or practical background in culture and media education are cordially invited as well as students and anybody who is interested in the subject. www.ph-ludwigsburg.de/kumebi
