NOTICE REGARDING APPOINTMENT OF SENIOR RESIDENTS IN INDIRA GANDHI MEDICAL COLLEGE SHIMLA AND DR. R.P. GOVT. MEDICAL COLLEGE, KANGRA AT TANDA UNDER MEDICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT: Applications are invited for the post of Senior Residents at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and Dr. R.P. Govt. Medical College, Kangra at Tanda from the desirous candidates fulfilling the requisite qualification and other eligibility conditions. The application shall be as per the form provided at Appendix-A of this notification. The last date by which the application complete in all respects should reach in the office of the respective Principals is 25.2.2012 for all candidates including in-service candidates. Provided further that the last date of application in respect of candidates serving / residing in tribal areas shall be 27.2.2012. The terms and conditions and details of availability of vacancies are provided at Appendix-B of this Notification. DIRECTORATE OF MEDICAL EDUCATION & RESEARCH HIMACHAL PRADESH, BLOCK NO. 18-B, S.D.A. COMPLEX KASUMPTI, SHIMLA-171009. APPOINTMENT OF SENIOR RESIDENTS IN INDIRA GANDHI MEDICAL COLLEGE, SHIMLA, H.P. AND Dr. R.P.GOVT. MEDICAL COLLEGE, KANGRA AT TANDA: Application for the post of Senior Residents are invited from the desirous candidates fulfilling the requisite qualification and other eligibility conditions on the prescribed application form. The posts are available in Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and Dr. R.P.Govt. Medical College, Kangra at Tanda. The last date by which the application should reach in the office of Principal, Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla-1 and Principal, Dr. R.P.Govt. Medical College, Kangra at Tanda is on or before 25.2.2012 for all the candidates including in service GDO s. However, the last date for reaching of applications forms in respect of candidates serving /residing in Tribal areas is on or before 27.2.2012. The written examination and counselling will be conducted on 1.3.2012 in IGMC, Shimla and 3.3.2012 in Dr. R. P.Govt. Medical College, Kangra at Tanda. CLASSIFICATION CLASS-I( GAZETTED ) TENURE POST The appointment to these posts will be for the period of three years on tenure basis. Once selected the Senior Resident will serve for three years and the post occupied so fall vacant only if he/she tenders resignation or his/her services are terminated by the Principal after following the procedure outlined in the policy. The Senior Resident will be issued teaching experience certificate which will be valid for promotion as Asstt. Professor in the respective faculty as per the R&P rules notified by the Govt. SCALE OF PAY i) The GDOs (regular employees of H.P.H.S.(Gen. Cadre) on their appointment as Senior Resident will continue to draw pay and allowances /increments as admissible to them in their pay scale. ii) The Specialist(PG)doctors appointed on Contract by the Government will get Rs. 35,000/-(Thirty Five Thousand Rupees ) per month. iii) The PG doctors appointed as Senior Resident as Direct Candidate will get Rs. 35,000/-(Thirty Five Thousand Rupees) per month.

ELIGIBILITY AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION(S) Post Graduate Degree (MD/MS) or DNB in the concerned speciality recognized by the Medical Council of India. However, for non clinical subjects, M.Sc. degree from the University as recognized by M.C.I. or the State of Himachal Pradesh. The Postgraduate students who have appeared in the final examination of PG course will also be eligible to apply for the post of Senior Resident but they will have to complete the PG degree in all respects on the date of the written examination. AGE LIMIT 45 years and below i) Provided that the upper age limit will not be applicable to the candidates already in the service of the Government including those who have been appointed on adhoc or on contract basis by the Govt. ii) Provided further that the upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/Other categories of persons to the extent permissible under the general or special order(s) of the Himachal Pradesh Government. iii) Age limit for Direct recruitment will be reckoned on the first day of the year in which the post (s) are advertised for inviting applications. METHOD OF RECRUITMENT: i) From GDO s ( 75% ) by transfer. ii) Direct Recruitment ( 25% ) These posts will be filled up in the ratio of 75:25 from GDO and Direct candidate respectively. In case of non availability of candidate in one category the posts in such faculty will be filled-up from the other category. The GDO category shall include the doctors appointed on regular or contract basis by the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh. Provided that only those GDO s whether appointed on regular or contract basis shall be eligible for selection as Sr. Resident who have served in the peripheral Health Institutions of the State Govt. for a period of at least 2 years after completion of their Post graduation RESERVATION: As per the Rules applicable in the State of H.P. However, if the candidates from reserved category fail to procure minimum qualifying marks or if candidates of reserved category are not available in any category, then the post will be filled up from General Category.

SELECTION PROCEDURE The Sr. Resident will be selected from amongst the eligible candidates on the basis of a written test and other criteria as detailed in below: Written Examination (in concerned Speciality) Gold Medal(in MBBS or PG) 85 marks 05 marks Publication of papers in Journals of reputation to be decided by the Director Medical Education. 10 marks (1.0 Marks for each published work subject to maximum of 10 Marks). Provided that the General Candidates should possess minimum 50% qualifying marks of total marks and Candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC categories must possess minimum 45 % qualifying marks. REPEAT TENURE REGULATION (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) There will be no repeat tenure for In-service GDO s (including contractual appointees) as Senior Residents in any speciality) The repeat tenure will be available to only Direct Candidates. If a Direct Candidate selected as Senior Resident is unable to complete the term of 3 years, he/she will be eligible to appear in the examination for Senior Resident and get selected in the same or other speciality. He /She will also be entitled to be selected as Sr. Residents in a Super Speciality If an In-Service GDO s is unable to complete the term of 3 years he/she shall stand debarred from doing Senior Residency for a period of 3 years DATE OF EXAMINATION Sr.No. Name of the Institution Details of the Examination 1. Shimla in the case of in service regular GDOs and adhoc/contract appointee doctors by the State Govt. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS 1. Candidates will be allowed to apply in one speciality only. 2. Speciality once chosen will be final and if selected, the candidates will not be permitted to change speciality at any stage during this period/tenure except as provided under rules. 3. In-complete or wrongly addressed applications shall not be considered at all and shall be rejected out-rightly. The Principal will make no further correspondence with the candidate in the matter. 4. The candidate should enclose the certified copies of the following Documents/Certificates alongwith application form:- i) Certificate of Matriculation or its equivalent examination (for verification of age.) ii) Detail marks certificates of Professional examination (degree/diploma). iii) Certificate of distinction obtained by a candidate in the qualifying examination, Medals, Publications and position in the University qualifying examination(s) if any. iv) Service certificate regarding serving in the peripheral institutions after PG issued by concerned Director of Health Service H.P./Chief Medical Officer concerned v) Character certificate from the employer/ Head of the institutions. vi) Registration certificate from Medical Council. vii) Attempt certificate in respect 1.
