SPEAKING AND LISTENING COMPONENT STUDENTS MUST UNDERTAKE A PREPARED SPOKEN PRESENTATION ON A SPECIFIC TOPIC. THE TOPIC IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE STUDENT. MINDFULNESS "Mindfulness also allows us to become more aware of the stream of thoughts and feelings that we experience and to see how we can become entangled in that stream in ways that are not helpful. Professor Mark Williams

WHY MINDFULNESS? Supports readiness to learn. Strengthens attention and concentration. Reduces anxiety before testing. Promotes self-reflection and self-calming. Improved memory, focus, and mental processing speed Provides tools to reduce stress. Reduced rumination (repetitively going over a thought or problem) Improved ability to manage emotions

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT YOUR CHILD. 1. Help them get into the habit of setting a daily intention each morning by simply deciding how they will structure their study time. 2. Tell them that having the determination to go through with the exam is a great success in itself. 3. Ensure they get enough sleep during revision times and while exams are taking place.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT YOUR CHILD. 5. Let them know that nerves, fear, worries about their exams and revision are normal and that you understand. 6. Allow them time for relaxation, cooking, eating well and positive socialising. 7. Encourage them to gently repeat a positive phrase to themselves ( I have achieved well today ) to help their mind switch off from their studies.
