REBELS AUTO CLUB NEWSLETTER February, 2018 THE PRESIDENT S GARAGE Hello All, Welcome to this month's President's Garage. What a great Rebels Christmas Party we had, lots of great food, fun, and fellowship were shared. The Hot Rod Season is not too far away regardless of what that Crazy Groundhog thinks. The Car Club Council Directory will be out soon, and many of us will be hitting various car shows, and this is the perfect time for us as Rebel's Members, to promote our Club, and Car Show. We'll have flyers available for us to hand out at the various shows we attend. I'm looking forward to the ideas that our Car Show Committee is coming up with for our Show. What I would like to ask, is for all of us to think about the things that makes us want to go to a certain car show, over another one. This year we're competing with the Good Guys Heartland Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa which is being held that same weekend. Granted that's a huge National Show, and a lot of people attend that show regularly, I worked that show 3 years in a row for Speedway Motors, and it's a big show for the Midwest. We need to find something that will set us apart from the other shows that day, that's why we need everyone's help in making our show, better and better each year. So let's put our heads together and have a show that will be talked about all year long. I look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting. See You Then!! Steve Lewis, President REBELS Auto Club CALENDAR NEXT MEETING: February 28, 2018 The Watering Hole, 83rd & Holdrege Dinner 6-7, Meeting at 7:30pm BOARD MEETING: February 13, 2018 DaVinci's, 11th & G Dinner 6-7, Meeting at 7:00pm LADIES NIGHT: February 21, 2018 Texas T Bone, 200 N 70th Street Dinner 6:00pm. SAVE THOSE POP TABS! A REBELS tradition for years. During the month, Members save all of their can tabs from canned beverages, and bring them to the monthly meetings. The tabs can be given to either Margaret or Lydell Otley, who deliver them to McDonalds to help the Ronald McDonald House families. Pop Tabs prove that little things can make a big difference. Help support the Ronald McDonald House by saving your tabs during the month and bring them to the next meeting! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT! FYI: HERO S INTO HOMES You have seen the recent REBELS Alerts about this program. The REBELS Board voted at their last meeting to donate $1,000 to Heroes Into Homes here in Lincoln. To the left is a thank you note the organization sent to the Club. If you didn t already know, Heroes Into Homes is a Veteran Service Organization working directly with the Lincoln VA in a coordinated effort between other organizations to provide homeless veterans with a place to live. The organization uses what is needed to turn an empty apartment into a home in the new 70 room apartment complex at the VA campus South 70th Street. Learn more at www.heroesintohomes,com.
