We believe that we are a school with a family atmosphere, providing high quality education for each and every young person. May I extend a warm invitation to visit us and experience the atmosphere in our vibrant community. CHRIS MORRIS Headteacher AN AMBITIOUS YET CARING ENVIRONMENT Broughton is a popular, high achieving mixed 11-16 community school with a proud history of success. We are based in the village of Broughton, on the northern outskirts of Preston. Our school aims to give all students a broad and exciting exposure to a range of activities and subjects to help them discover their true talents, skills and interests. Our success is based on a commitment to personal growth and a desire to meet the needs of individual students. It is based on the core values of trust, respect and optimism as well as a clear appreciation of the conditions for effective learning. 1

OUTSTANDING RESULTS: OUR SUCCESS CAN BE MEASURED IN ANY NUMBER OF WAYS. OUR GCSE RESULTS ARE EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH AND CONSISTENTLY ABOVE NATIONAL AVERAGES. WE ARE CURRENTLY REGARDED AS ONE OF THE HIGHEST PERFORMING SCHOOLS IN OUR REGION. WE CELEBRATE ALL SUCCESS AND ARE QUICK TO REWARD HIGH PERFORMING STUDENTS FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENT AND HARD WORK. EARNING RESPECT, ENJOYING SUCCESS Our aim is to provide an environment in which all young people feel safe, valued and inspired to learn. In our classrooms, all teachers and students learn together and have mutual respect for each other. The key emphasis in our lessons is on students making progress, as well as developing a real love of learning. We offer an imaginative programme of study and place a strong emphasis on individual learning to encourage and support students to work at an optimum level. Creative teaching is one of our top priorities. Preparing our young people for the challenges ahead in the modern world is a top priority for us. We provide lessons in business, information technology, enterprise and modern foreign languages, alongside other core subjects thus equipping students with all of the essential skills and qualifications required to expand their future employment. Recognising that the future of learning is interactive, all students have open access to the latest technology in our classrooms. 2
