Office of Family & Community Engagement 2015-2016 Enrichment Programs Session 1 September 14, 2015 - October 23, 2015 Center/Sylvester School csenrichment@ hanoverschools.org General Registration Information Registrations must be completed online. If the number of registered students exceeds class size, enrollment is determined by order of registration. Classes that do not meet the minimum enrollment requirements will be cancelled. Notification of class confirmation/cancellation, including specific class information and payment instructions, will be sent by email. Session 1 Registration Timeline Registration opens: Friday 9/4/15 Registration closes: Thursday 9/10/15 at 12:00 Noon Enrollment notifications will be sent: Friday 9/11/15 Payment Information Payments should not be made until an email confirmation of class enrollment has been received from our office. Class confirmation emails will contain a link to our online payment center. Class fees can be paid online using a check or credit card. (Please note that fees apply as posted on the UniBank site). Payments by check may be handed in by your student to the enrichment coordinator on the first day of the enrichment class. Please note that in order for your student to participate in an enrichment class, all outstanding before & after school program balances and/or enrichment balances must be brought current.
Irish Step Dancing Kenny Academy of Irish Dance Students will learn the basic techniques of Irish Step Dancing such as: Turn out & crossed feet, being high on the toes, timing & travel, arms & stiff upper body drills designed for the Irish Step dancer, beginner reels and jigs and ceili dances (4 or 8 dancers that dance as a team). Come to class prepared with appropriate attire and plenty of water - this is a great workout! Girls: Ballet slippers, socks, or dance sneakers if you have them and comfortable clothing. Boys: Socks, shorts and comfortable clothing. Wednesdays: 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21 Grades: 1st - 4th Cost: $50 Instructional Tennis Elaine Nolan South Shore YMCA Tennis Pro & League Coordinator This class will help students discover the thrill of playing the game of a lifetime. Students will experience the basics of tennis through a combination of drills, games and match play. Skills are taught using the latest progressions and age-appropriate equipment, with a fun-filled tournament at the end of the week. Come ready to play and have fun! Equipment required: Appropriate attire and footwear, tennis racquet and a refillable water bottle. Thursdays: 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/22 & 10/29 Grades: 2nd - 4th Cost: $75 Archery The Archery Center of Hingham Students will learn Target Archery through a safe and nationally recognized program. Under USA Archery guidelines, with certified instructors from the Archery Center in Hingham, participants will develop skills using a variety of state of the art and traditional bows. Knitting Mrs. Anne Judge Beginner knitters will be introduced to the fundamentals of the craft. Advanced knitters will be encouraged to take on challenging projects to improve their skills. Projects will help students build the confidence to work independently. Projects may include: scarves, hats, headbands and more. Price includes all materials. Center/Sylvester Robotics Team Please join us for an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 6:30PM - 7:30PM to learn more about this exciting opportunity! **Please note that attendance at this meeting does not guarantee a spot on the team.** Interested in coaching the Center/Sylvester School Robotics Team? Please contact Kelly Lawrence at 781-826-3574 Beginner/Intermediate Team Beginner/Intermediate Team members may have experience or be new to Robotics. Students should have a strong interest in building, engineering and science and be committed to working collaboratively with team members. Students will learn to build and program a robot to complete missions in preparation for the regional competition. Team members must be motivated and willing to do additional work outside of class.
