Radnor Middle School Course Overview Middle School Physical Education 7th General Information Credits: Length: Weighted: Format: Prerequisite: Grade: 7 I. Course Description The goal of this course is to provide students with an appreciation for physical activity. Students will be provided with a variety of experiences related to physical movement that will enhance skills related to both physical and social health. Students will be challenged to use physical and cognitive skills that are necessary to achieve a group goal in a physical setting. Effective communication is necessary for effective group work. Additionally students will learn that rules and etiquette in physical activities/ sports can make the experience both enjoyable and successful. Students will also learn that daily exercise can improve quality of life. Below is a template for the new overview. Sections should be created by major units of study and marking period. Common Core Standards Keystone Connections: Student Objectives: KNOWLEDGE SKILLS Volleying, Bump, Set, Serve Dribbling, Passing (Chest Pass, Bounce Pass), Layups, Foul shots, Set/Jump Shots Materials & Texts Activities, Assignments, & Assessments ACTIVITIES Volleyball Progressions: Partner volley using set and bump skills moving up to 4 people & 6 people groups. King & Queen of the court. Progress from 1v 1 to 5 v 5 volleyball match. 1 point game, players rotate to next available court. 6 v 6 volleyball, timed matches tournament style. Basketball Dribbling relays, Dribble tag, Basketball golf (Place 3 poly spots at 6 different baskets) Knockout 3V3 basketball games ASSESSMENTS Students will be assessed based on level of participation, cooperation, effort, and sportsmanship.
