The next section shows your child s progress in detail. What does Go4schools tell me about my child at school? In Key stage 3 (Year 7,8 and 9) we are currently using National Curriculum levels, which is a number followed by a lower case letter. For example 5c. c being seen as the lower end of the level, b in the middle, and a the higher end of the level. In Key stage 4, you will see a combination of GCSE grades A to G and the new GCSE grades 9-1 in English and Maths, using numbers followed by a capital letter. Example Only ME This is the Minimum Expectation i.e. the level your child should make by the end of the year if he /she is making the national average expected amount of progress, based on his/her Key stage 2 levels. The expected levels of progress are 2 sub levels per year from the Key Stage 2 levels (level 5 students will have an ME of 3 sublevels progress per year). The progress required for Maths is based on the average of the Key Stage 2 Maths and English results. OE This is the outstanding Expectation. This is the average level generated from any assessments your child has completed up to that point. You can access the descriptions
Task Grades This is an average level generated from any assessments your child has completed up to that point. Estimate This is the grade your child s teacher estimated that your child will get at the end of the year. This is the teacher s professional judgement based upon current evidence and work ethics. This level will tell you whether your child is making good progress. Can I check my child s attendance? Yes you can, however please note this is not live. This means the information is current from the previous day and therefore it cannot tell you if your child is attending school on the day that you look. How can I see my child s behaviour (choices) record? The most recent 5 choices made by your child will be shown. Each one can be opened (click on the live BLUE link) to see the comments made by the teacher about the reasons for awarding the points. You can also select the view full behaviour record if you wish to see them all (click on the BLUE link shown below). It is possible to see your child s choices over time by looking at the bar chart and line graph (see below).
How can I access my child s progress checks? We will publish a Progress check about your child at points throughout the year. The Progress Check will contain a snap shot for each subject of the child s: ME grade/level Estimated grade/level If your child s estimate is not on or above his or her ME then you should have cause for concern. In the first instance you can help support your child making accelerated progress by doing the following; Ensuring your child accesses extra support by attending Homework Club Discussing your child s learning at home Encouraging your child to access additional learning through websites and learning platforms such as BBC Bitesize, My Maths and Maths Watch vle for all years and Sam Learning for years 10 and 11 (all students have passwords) Contacting your child s teacher (email access available through the school website) to ask how to support your child further.
