Common App Senior students should have completed the following sections in their info session with Mrs. Beatty in order to match their account in Family Connection: Profile Education (partial/beginning steps) Addition of at least one school Completion of these 3 sections provide you with access to the FERPA. **Note: Even if you are not applying to a Common App school you still need to create an account and complete these steps.

FERPA Release Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Waive your right to access a letter of recommendation and accompanying forms. Provides consent for release documents to institutions. **Some colleges will not read your recommendation if you do not waive.

Teacher Recommendations
Teacher Recommendations Courteously follow up with the teachers whom you have selected to write your letter. Provide them with the list of schools that you are applying to and their deadline dates. Please give your teachers at least three to four weeks advanced notice of your earliest deadline.

Student Responsibilities Completion and submission of the application and fees. Sending standardized test scores (ACT/SAT) actstudent.org or collegeboard.org If applicable, complete any supplemental material requirements requested by the college. Transcript request form and CHS release submitted to School Counseling office at least 10 school days in advance of earliest deadline
Documents Sent By Counselor Transcript (initial, mid-year, final) Counselor letter of recommendation Secondary school report (if required) School Profile The above documents are not sent until a CHS release is signed and a transcript request form is received.
In Review... 1. Setup of Common Application account, FERPA release and matching of Naviance to Common App should be complete. 2. Complete the CHS Release and Transcript request form found in the documents tab of family connection. 3. Continue to add colleges that you are applying to in Colleges I Am Applying to in Family Connection. 4. Secure teacher recommendations and communicate deadlines. 5. Sign up for and attend college rep visits on Naviance 6. Keep the lines of communication open and inform your counselor of any updates and/or changes!
