Exchanging knowledge, experience and ideas for the future
1 CMEPIUS (Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes) is a public institution, which has grown and developed over the years, while building and improving its understanding of all relevant target audiences. We consider ourselves a relevant partner within the national as well as the international educational environment. Our activities focus on quality, taking initiative, and coordinating the exchange of knowledge, experience and ideas. We are wholeheartedly dedicated to our work, knowing our actions can lead to a better future. We believe in the sharing of knowledge, we listen to our stakeholders and promote knowledge exchange. We follow and contribute to common educational goals and objectives at the national and European level. Our mission and vision are clear. We are proactive and consider learning a lifelong process. Besides contributing to the development of education through international cooperation, our main future focus will be on activities which enhance intercultural competences, professional development of educational staff, and on the quality in education.
2 ERASMUS+ 3,500+ teachers 6,100+ students ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: Erasmus+ is an EU programme for cooperation in education, training, youth and sport and covers activities during the period 2014-2020. The Erasmus+ programme aims to boost skills and employability, as well as to modernise education, training, and youth work. The seven-year programme with a budget of 14.7 billion provides opportunities to over 5 million Europeans to study, train, gain work experience and volunteer abroad. OUR ROLE: CMEPIUS is the Slovenian national agency responsible for Erasmus+ programme in the field of education, training and sport. As the responsible national agency we act as a partner of those who develop innovative projects, while promoting the visibility of the impact of international cooperation which significantly contributes to the attainment of national goals, implementation of strategies and developments at all educational levels. MAIN TASKS: Provision of support to applicants; coordination and implementation of relevant calls for proposals; administration of the Slovenian Erasmus+ website www.erasmusplus. si; organisation of information campaigns, thematic workshops, capacity building seminars and networking, and valorisation conferences; preparation of Erasmus+ promotional materials; highlighting of programme results and their integration in the national education system; and rewarding of best projects at the national level. 3,500+ Slovenian teachers participated in staff mobility abroad and 6,100+ Slovenian students completed work practice within European projects.

Over 12,000 Slovenian students went to other European countries while participating in student mobility and over 12,000 foreign students came to Slovenia.
6 etwinning PROGRAMME ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: etwinning (the Community for schools in Europe) is a part of the Erasmus+ programme and it provides European teachers in school education (including preschool and vocational education) with an opportunity to meet in a virtual environment, exchange ideas and exercise examples, learn together and engage in online projects in every subject area. OUR ROLE: As a National Support Service (NSS) for etwinning in Slovenia CMEPIUS presents and promotes the etwinning action to Slovenian teachers in school education and encourages them to join the etwinning portal (www.etwinning.net) and use ICT technology in the classroom, and to participate in etwinning workshops abroad. MAIN TASKS: Organisation of etwinning workshops, seminars and webinars and preparation of etwinning promotional materials; rewarding the best and most innovative projects; and promotion of etwinning results among Slovenian teachers. 354 SLOVENIAN SCHOOLS Since 2005, 2,440 Slovenian teaching staff and 354 Slovenian schools have registered on the etwinning portal and have carried out 2,205 etwinning projects
5 6 7 8 9 European Higher Education Area (EHEA) 9 4 3 2 1 curriculum One of the EHEA project results is also the publication of a practical guide on internationalisation of the curriculum, which also includes several examples from Slovenian practice for implementation of the internationalised curriculum in university teaching and learning. ABOUT THE PROJECT: The EHEA project is focused on the development of Slovenian higher education system, as well as on the wider aim of enhancing the quality, attractiveness and openness of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). OUR ROLE: CMEPIUS is an entity affiliated with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, which is the national authority responsible for the EHEA project. As such, CMEPIUS is responsible for the entire organisation and implementation of the project with respect to EHEA in Slovenia. MAIN TASKS: Preparation of workshops, conferences and publications dedicated to the development of the Slovenian higher education system; internationalisation of the curriculum and internationalisation at home; contextualisation of (internationalised) learning outcomes; supporting quality of university teaching with pedagogical development of university teachers; and provision of support to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport in the drafting of the new Slovenian Higher Education Act.
10 Europe for Citizens programme ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: The aim of the programme is to contribute to citizens' understanding of the EU, its history and diversity, to foster European citizenship, and to improve conditions for civic and democratic participation at the EU level. OUR ROLE: CMEPIUS is the Slovenian contact point for the programme. Our tasks are related to the promotion of this centralised programme primarily managed by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in Brussels, and to networking at the national and European level. MAIN TASKS: Promotion of the Europe for Citizens programme and its aims to potential participants in Slovenia. We thus organise many events during the year, i.e. workshops, information days and meetings, while we also promote the programme and project results at various activities organised by our Centre and collaborating partners throughout the year. In the period 2014-2017 a total of 25 projects from Slovenia were approved. During the same period more than 140 partner organisations from Slovenia participated in the programme.
EURAXESS 13 ABOUT THE INITIATIVE: EURAXESS is a unique pan-european initiative providing access to a complete range of information and support services to professional researchers, wishing to pursue their research careers in Europe or maintain their connections therewith. OUR ROLE: CMEPIUS acts as the bridgehead organisation and co-ordinator of the initiative in Slovenia through the creation of a support network. In 2016, we also became the EURAXESS Service Centre for foreign researchers. 8 Slovenian institutions offer free support services related to incoming mobility of foreign researchers. MAIN TASKS: Promotion of initiatives among foreign researches, provision of information about entry requirements, procedures, and residence and work permits; organisation of workshops and seminars for capacity building of reserachers; management of EURAXESS Slovenia website (www.euraxess.si); and co-operation with relevant partners in different projects.
14 CEEPUS ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: CEEPUS is an academic exchange programme for students and university teachers from Central Europe based on multilateral cooperation agreements in the field of education and research. The third generation of CEEPUS programme covers the period from 2011 to 2018. OUR ROLE: CMEPIUS is a National CEEPUS Office for the CEEPUS programme in Slovenia and is responsible for the implementation of the programme. (http://eng.cmepius.si/programmes/ceepus/) MAIN TASKS: The main tasks of CMEPIUS are related to nominations of incoming and outgoing students; preparation of documentation for incoming students; accommodation arrangements; providing students with information about residence permits, health insurance, etc. We also organise workshops on the CEEPUS programme for HE institutions, and create synergies with other programmes and projects in the field of higher education. 88 Slovenian HEIs are currently participating in 62 CEEPUS networks.
Bilateral Scholarships 17 50 students/year Each year over 50 students from all over the world receive scholarships to attend a student exchange at Slovenian universities. ABOUT THE PROGRAMME: A limited number of bilateral scholarships for foreign exchange students are offered by the Slovenian Government on an annual basis. These scholarships are based on provisions of signed bilateral cooperation agreements in the field of higher education between the Slovenian Government and foreign governments. OUR ROLE: CMEPIUS acts as the national office responsible for Slovenian Government's scholarships for foreign exchange students. 18 EPALE ABOUT THE PLATORM: EPALE (Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe) is a multilingual open membership community for everyone with a professional role in adult learning across Europe. It was established by the European Commission in order to contribute to the development and the quality of adult learning provision in Europe. OUR ROLE: We act as the Slovenian National Support Service (NSS) and we together with other National Support Services and Central Support Service (CSS) strive for successful engagement of different stakeholders. MAIN TASKS: Provision of useful and up-to-date information for professionals in the field of adult education; engagement with and animation of the online community; provision of support to registered users; and promotion of the platform among Slovenian stakeholders. 300 USERS 1000 POSTS 180 TWITTER FOLLOWERS 500 LIKES 300+ registered Slovenian users, 1,000+ posts on the Slovenian EPALE site, 500+ Facebook page likes, 180+ Twitter followers
Study in Slovenia 21 ABOUT THE INITIATIVE: Study in Slovenia is a national initiative established to promote Slovenian higher education and different opportunities for study in Slovenia. The website www.studyinslovenia.si was designed with a similar purpose as a one-stop shop, offering visitors information about study, research and exchange in Slovenia. The Study in Slovenia national initiative has been very active in promoting our higher education area. Since 2014 we have been present at 18 international higher education fairs in Vietnam, Kazakhstan, India, Morocco, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. OUR ROLE: CMEPIUS acts as the initiative coordinator, bringing together representatives of Slovenian HEIs and other relevant stakeholders. MAIN TASKS: Promotion of Slovenian higher education and research area, and existing study programmes in Slovenian and English; publication/dissemination of numerous exchange opportunities (Erasmus+, CEEPUS, bilateral agreements) on the website, promotional activities at international higher education fairs.
22 World in Classroom (WIC) ABOUT THE PROJECT: World in Classroom is a national project for foreign students who come to Slovenia through the Erasmus+ programme, CEEPUS programme, bilateral cooperation or other programmes and initiatives, and who want to bring their international experience to schools, kindergartens and other educational institutions in Slovenia. OUR ROLE: Promotion of the project and matching foreign students and schools. MAIN TASKS: Preparation of promotional materials, dissemination of the project at different levels. Since 2014 more than 50 students from around the world have brought intercultural and international dimension to Slovenian classrooms.
The European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) 25 ABOUT THE PROJECT: ECVET is the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training. It uses a common procedure to recognise learning outcomes achieved in formal, non-formal and informal settings. Learning outcomes are defined in terms of knowledge, skills and competencies required for their attainment. OUR ROLE: CMEPIUS is the coordinator of the national ECVET expert group. The role of the ECVET expert group is to improve knowledge and increase awareness of the ECVET elements in mobility projects, and to deliver training for teachers/coordinators for the drafting of learning outcomes. More than 100 Slovenian teachers practiced how to design learning outcomes and how to use them in mobility projects at various ECVET workshops. MAIN TASKS: ECVET experts provide training and advice on the introduction and implementation of ECVET to VET and adult education bodies at the national level. Moreover, they work closely with the National Europass centre and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport in order to assist in policy-making. They also actively participate in European ECVET events and networks.
