DEVELOPING EXPERTISE FOR LEADERS OF TEACHING & LEARNING MASTER TEACHER PROGRAMME MA IN EDUCATION TEAM LEADER APPRENTICESHIP
DEVELOPING EXPERTISE FOR LEADERS OF TEACHING & LEARNING MASTER TEACHER PROGRAMME OVERVIEW The National College of Education is an independent college of education that is dedicated to raising the status of the teaching profession by providing outstanding professional learning opportunities for all career pathways within education. We believe that all children deserve great teachers, and all teachers need a continuing professional learning journey, so our programmes are available to all schools and teachers, regardless of phase, specialism, location or sector. By utilising school contributions to the national apprenticeship levy, and accessing 90% funding of programme costs through the government s co-investment model, schools can now reinvent the way they empower and retain staff members through investment in professional learning. This 15 month part time programme provides teachers with the opportunity to begin their leadership journey and study for an MA in Education in order to research an area of the curriculum in their school. The programme sets a new standard in terms of it s depth of content, quality of participant experience and coaching expertise. Successful participants are awarded an MA in Education, a Team Leader Apprenticeship and Associate Membership of the Chartered Management Institute. Bringing together leadership expertise from the private, public and third sectors the programme is immersed in educational context while also developing leadership theory and practice that is transferable across sectors. Given the current crisis education faces in recruiting and retaining staff, we believe that schools have a responsibility to capitalise on this remarkable opportunity to transform their professional development provision.
