Schedules, expectations and team policies will be communicated GYMNASTICS There will be a Preseason Parent/Player/Coach meeting Monday, October 30th at 5:00 in the Nest at AAHS. RESULTS FROM THE WEEKEND VOLLEYBALL Alexandria 3 Bemidji 2 21-25, 12-25, 25-22, 26-24, 16-14 The Cardinals fought hard to stay alive in section playoffs with an incredible comeback win against Bemidji on Friday night. Although this is the second time this season the Cards have overcame a 0-2 set deficit for the win, it is never something a team can count on. After losing the first two sets, the Cardinals came out with renewed energy and fight in the third-they were not ready for their season to be over. The secured the victory within regular points in the third but fought off a total of six Bemidji match points in the 4 th and the 5 th to pull of the upset. Erika Roderick perfectly ran the Cardinal offense, creating a balanced attack throughout the match and hitting key players in the right moments. Kendra Hardy, McKenzie Duwenhoegger, and Mia McGrane each contributed 13 kills. Tori Jeseritz contributed 10. Sierra Cory, in just her second Varsity start of the season, contributed 2 kills and a total of 6 blocks. Roderick had 47 set assists for the match. The defense was led by Devany Johnsons with 24 digs, followed by Mia McGrane with 21. A large part of the increasing success from the Cardinals came from the serving improvements that were made throughout the match. McGrane led the way with 3 aces, Johnson had 2, and Roderick, Hardy, and Jeseritz each had 1. The Cardinals are excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue their playoff run. We have one practice today and then hit the road to Wilmar tomorrow. Wilmar is 24-4 for the season with one of their four losses against the Cardinals. We are looking to recreate that success and to earn the right to participate in our section finals match this upcoming Saturday! FOOTBALL Alexandria 27 Moorhead 20 The Cardinal football team earned its 3rd straight trip to the Section 8-5A Finals by defeating the Moorhead Spuds on Saturday night in Moorhead by a score of 27-20. The Cardinals held a lead for most of the game until the Spuds scored to tie the game at 20 with about 4:00 to play. The Cardinals would take the next drive 88 yards culminating with a beautiful 28 yard touchdown reception by Thomas Anderson with :05 left on the clock. Zach Wosepka converted the PAT to make the score 27-20 Cardinals. The Cardinals will play in Brainerd on Friday night at 7pm for the Section 8-5A title and the right to go to the State tournament.

MOUNTAIN BIKE CLUB Congratulations AAHS Mountaineers for finishing 2nd at the State Mountain Biking competition in Mankato. The season was capped off with excellent performances by Stormy Hegg, Tausha Lang, Bowen Tesch, and Izzy Rasmusen. Friday evening snow and freezing temps made for challenging conditions, but the team attacked the course and knocked out the hill and slippery single track. Stormy Hegg was the last Mountaineer to race on Sunday. She was faced with a constant steady light rain which made her race muddy, slippery and slow. Stormy stayed mentally strong and battled back the last 5 miles to pass three racers and finish high in the ranks. The coaches were impressed and proud of each racer. This was the race report from the state high school meet. Awards will also be handed out to the high school team for overall season points in the Twin Cities November 11th. Congratulations Mountaineers on a second place state finish. At the Middle School level, Carter Suchy sprinted in the last quarter mile with a competitor tire to tire and won 1st place.
