Applying for a Classified Licence ( Learner s Permit ) To obtain your learner s permit for a Class A or a Class D licence, you must first have a doctor complete the Driver s Medical Examination Report. You can do this at your family or a Walk-In Medical Clinic. Medical forms can be obtained at Humber s Transportation Training Centre or a DriveTest Centre. Note that the provincial health care program (OHIP) does not cover the cost for this. Check around as prices can vary. Before attempting the written test for your learner s permit, we recommend that you review The Official MTO Driver s Handbook and The Official MTO Truck Handbook (see over). These books can be purchased at a Drive Test Centre, Canadian Tire and major bookstores or viewed online at www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/pubs/drivhand/ Once the above is completed, take your driver s Medical Examination Report to a DriveTest Centre (www.drivetest.ca) and request a written test for either a Class A or Class D learner s permit. Please do not take the written test for your Z Air Brake Endorsement at the DriveTest Centre. MTO regulations will not allow us to recognize a written test from a location other than Humber College. The cost of the written test is $23.25. You may be charged an additional $96.75 for a road test.* (The road test fee may be refunded by DriveTest after successfully completing our program.) You can also do the written test at Service Ontario at the 777 Bay (College Park) location. You must present Humber College with a valid learner s permit 3 weeks before the start date of your program. If you experience any difficulty in obtaining your Learner s Permit, please contact Humber at (416) 675-6622 ext. 5800 immediately. * Note: Fees are a DriveTest policy. Humber College has no control over this. Fees are current as of February 2018.
