Three Components of an Objective Performance What the learner will be able to do upon meeting the objectives Condition The environment in which the learner is expected to demonstrate his or her knowledge Criteria The quality or standard of performance that is considered acceptable What is a task? A unit of work that stands by itself A logical and necessary action in the performance of a job Observable Measurable

It s all about the verbs! Verbs are used in the performance component of the objective to describe behavior. Quality Checks Does the module have an orderly flow? Does one part smoothly transition into the next part? Is the writing clear? Can you follow the exercise instructions? Is the reading level appropriate for the audience? Is jargon minimized and carefully defined? Are new terms defined? Are all acronyms identified when first presented in the text? How about grammar, spelling, and punctuation? Do they meet professional standards? Have you timed each section and exercise?
