Private consumption expenditure grew by 7.8% in real terms for 2007 as a whole, up from 6.0% growth in 2006, the fastest growth since 1993. Demand was especially strong in consumer goods and services. However, the economy recorded a lower growth rate of 2.3% in 2008 and contracted by 2.7% in 2009. The countryâ s economy strongly recovered to 6.9% growth in 2010..
