The evaluated areas include: Past academic performance including areas of academic strength with greater weight given to more recent study. Intellectual ability as measured by scores on the GMAT or GRE. Verbal, quantitative and analytical writing assessments are evaluated. Personal essay describing educational and career objectives, as well as the applicant s leadership experiences and skills that will be contributed to the classroom experience. Letters of recommendation, with comments made by others who can evaluate the applicant s accomplishments, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership potential. For MBA applicants: Work experience, especially the type, level and amount, as well as leadership skills and military service. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS 1. A baccalaureate degree, in any major, from an accredited college or university is required. Applicants to graduate programs at Lehigh University must hold an American bachelor s degree or an equivalent foreign degree requiring at least 16 years of primary, secondary and university education with at least 4 years at the university level. If the applicant has earned a baccalaureate degree with 3 years of university level course work, please contact the Graduate Programs Office for details regarding degree completion through a university partnership. 2. Two years of professional work experience is required for admission into the MBA and the MBA joint programs. Applicants who have not completed two years of work experience may be offered deferred admission until the work experience requirement is fulfilled. APPLICATION DATES To be guaranteed consideration for entry in a particular semester, as a regular student, Lehigh University must receive the application form and all supporting materials, including test scores, by the dates on the opposite page. Failure to receive a complete application by a listed deadline will result in the application defaulting to the next available application period and/or status. Deadlines falling on a weekend or holiday are extended to the next business day. Applicants who wish to be considered for financial aid are encouraged to apply by January 15. Applicants who have applied by this deadline will be given priority for financial aid. Associate students are not eligible for financial aid. Applications Associate Students must be complete and received in the Graduate Programs Office on or before the deadline. Each year, some applicants are admitted as associate students. This includes applicants who are unable to furnish GMAT or GRE scores by the application deadline, applicants who are admitted on probation, and applicants whose files were not complete by the regular student status deadline. Applicants for associate student status must furnish all other application materials, except GMAT or GRE scores, by the associate deadline. If the applicant is unable to provide GMAT or GRE scores the Admissions Committee will require an outstanding undergraduate record, preferably from an AACSB accredited school, in order to be considered for admission under associate student status. Associate student status is available only to applicants residing in the United States. Associate status is not available for all programs. FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID, LOANS AND WORK STUDY AWARDS The primary loan source for graduate students is the Federal Stafford Loan. The Stafford Loan amount for which graduate students are eligible is $20,500. Of that amount, up to $8,500 can subsidized, with the remainder being unsubsidized, and is adjusted for the cost of education, other financial aid received, and your own ability to pay for schooling. Eligibility is determined by filing these forms with Lehigh University s Office of Financial Aid: 1. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) www.fafsa.ed.gov 2. Lehigh s Institutional Application 3. Your most recent federal tax return (1040) and W-2 s. If you register for less than 6 credits per term, you may qualify for an alternative student loan from a commercial lender. International students may also qualify for alternative student loans. The Office of Financial Aid maintains a list of Frequently Used Loans on their website. Students who apply for an alternative loan must also file Lehigh s Institutional Application available at www.lehigh.edu/~infao. An independent loan program, MBA Loans, is available through the Graduate Management Admissions Council to full and part time MBA students. For information on MBA Loans visit www.gmac.com.
