Society of Critical Care Medicine LearnICU Classroom STUDENT GUIDE Welcome to the Society of Critical Care Medicine s LearnICU Classroom Software and Technical Requirements The preferred Web browsers to access the LearnICU Classroom are: Explorer 8 or 9 Chrome Firefox In the LearnICU Classroom, lessons in an online course open in a new window. To view these lessons, a student must: Disable the pop-up blocker in the Web browser or accept pop-ups. Additional information about pop-up blockers can be found here: Pop-Up Blocker Guide. If you have disabled your pop-up blocker and receive a message that says Content is Running upon launching a module, minimize your browser screen. The lesson module has likely opened in a new window behind your current view. Install Flash: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer.html Ensure JavaScript is enabled: http://enable-javascript.com Completing and Satisfying a Course Completing and Satisfying an online course in the LearnICU Classroom requires students to navigate through a series of steps. Each step must be completed in order to fully satisfy and complete the course requirements. Complete Status The student has completed tasks within the online course Satisfy Status The student has successfully achieved learning milestones, such as passing test scores and completing lessons modules Classroom
ONLINE STUDENT GUIDE Launch the Course The courses will appear under My Current Activities. Click on the course name to launch the course. This will bring you an introduction to the LearnICU Classroom. Click the course name again when you are ready to begin. Complete the course lessons and submit any pre- and post-tests The yellow star indicates course elements that have not yet been accessed. All course elements must be accessed in order to Satisfy and Complete the course requirements.
Completing course lessons requires that you click the blue Close button at the end of each module, when noted as part of the course requirements. It is only by clicking the Close button that you will be properly credited for completion. It is best to use the Previous and Next buttons within the lesson modules.
Pre- and post-tests may be submitted multiple times unless otherwise noted. Both pre- and post-tests must be submitted to fulfill the requirements of the course. A passing score on posttests must be achieved in order to be able to move to the next lesson of the online course. Learners will know they have successfully submitted a test when they are able to view the results of that test. Your score will be indicated at the top of the test. A post-test with a failing score must be resubmitted, if permitted.
Completing the Post-Work Evaluation Upon completion of the course requirements typically review of all lesson modules, submission of the pre-tests, and passing all post-tests the online course will generate a Post-Work Evaluation in the My Current Activities dashboard. Navigate back to the My Current Activities dashboard by clicking the blue Home button on the upper right-hand side of the screen. Click Launch Postwork. The status of your course will read Completed Pending Postwork. The Post-Work Evaluation will launch in a new tab within your Web browser. Once you complete and submit it, return to the My Current Activities dashboard. You will be prompted to claim credit. Identify your profession and click the blue Done button.
Print Certificates Congratulations! Your online course has moved from My Current Activities to My Training History. Navigate to My Dashboard (under My Learning button on left of screen) and print relevant certificates by clicking the certificate icons to the right of the course listing under Action. The status of your course should indicate Satisfied and Completed.
